FRUITING WITH A UV LIGHT

I'm currently using a black light to fruit my island coast. I've done a lot of research and learned that pinning favors blue light(UV). I don't plan on harvesting the spores of these especially since UV lights also deconstruct some genetic data. I'll be posting here to track the growth with these UV lights!

Cool.
You should also know: UV is very good for sterilization.

4 posts and doing more science than folks with 4000 posts. It's a nice sentiment, are you doing controlled experiments. Working with a strain isolate in controlled environment? All is for waste (in terms of the types of science scientists use.) if you do not have that kind of control.

Doesn't UV light also diminish potency over periods of time? Might be a reason we're not all doing it.

I agree.
I believe the community has the lighting pretty much dialed in for best results.
6500K 12/12...
I have used anywhere from 5000k CFLS to 8000K tubes as well.
The reason being I already had HO flouros for vegging plants.

UV is going to cause a lot of mutations. I used to fruit with a reptile light and had loads of mutants. Once I stopped the results were better.
Also pinning doesn't really need light at all. If anything light is a secondary pinning trigger at best. Personally I am doubtful about how much it affects pinning at all. Main pinning triggers are full colonization/suffice consolidation, introduction of high FAE, and evaporation.

I'm glad to hear somebody else saying this. I really haven't noticed any effect from lack of light on neglected grows. Certainly it doesn't seem to have any effect on pinning in my experience. Do you think it does anything for total yield/fruit mass? That's the only thing that would actually require some control testing.
I've been using a 4500K light for most of my stuff.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Yeah, natural sunlight by a window would be just fine, no need to go overboard, like Pasty said, you want your sub to be fully colonized with FAE introduced and evaporation from the surface to initiate pinning. Also, it doesn't hurt to have clean spawn!

I fruit in a basement so I use a few lights on timers. Plain daylight spectrum CFL is fine. Excessive UV doesn't help much and possibly hurts IMO.

I only put the UV light on the cake every other day. I put it in the chamber on the 5th how much longer would you say i have? I'd like to be harvesting in 6 days from now.
