A standalone GPS doesn't appeal to you?
Is what you're saying even possible? 2 sim cards with same number for 2 phones?
Also, are all service providers/phones these days able to transfer my current # to a new phone/service provider or only certain companies?

I would like to use the s3 as a navigation device for my car, whilst my nexus 5 would be my actual phone. I would like to use my cell data for the navigation on my s3, and use the cell service on my nexus 5 for phone calls. If one of the phones happens to be near me, I can answer that one for calls, or if the other phone is near me, I can answer that one for calls.

Yes, 2 sim cards on the same number is possible. Has been for many years. But I understand that the Google phone option is easier/cheaper these days.

i have 3 phone numbers tied to one phone. I use a google voice number, and two verizon numbers. I was using google voice for my self employment business, and my personal verizon number originally. I then got a computer job which i was giving a company phone. I know carry the company phone and forward my personal verizon number and google voice number to it. So technically i have 3 numbers tied to the same phone. I also use the new work phones message app (iphone) for the work texts, and i setup the verizon messenger app on it with my personal verizon number so that all the texts were seperated and It would show my texts i sent show up from either number depending on which app i used. And of course the google voice app also shows its own number.
This make any sense lol? Hard to explain it quickly.
