best way to get rid of a contaminated tray?
    #22483562 - 11/05/15 10:20 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

i just did a couple of trays and one of them is most definitely contaminated with trich, whats the best way to dispose of this without disturbing the spores and spreading them? thanks.

Probably all ready spread. Trich is everywhere mang. You aren't going to eliminate all traces of contaminants in any environment unless you live in a PC.

When my tubs were done, I took them covered outside ear the trashcan, put on gloves and a mask, dumped the whole liner including the polyfil into the black contractor back and sealed it up. Threw it into the trash can with the gloves and mask. Took a shower afterwards.

What I do is take it out without taking the lid off. Dumpit into my pile. Spray/wash it out and spray the poly lol, then reuse the poly. Tbh idgaf about trich spores. I don't even sanitize my tubs. Just make sure it's visibly clean lol.

Clean spawn wins. And I don't even use coir..

Yeah I didn't sanitize my tubs. I just washed them out. I feel like if you over-sanitize tings your grows will becomes a lot like the kids today... sick all the time from lack of exposure.

What do you spawn to Mad? Preferred tek?

Poo! A combination of azurs and Frank's. Jars are sooo amazing. Also like to toss in some straw. I mix the spawn, poo, and soaked pasteurized straw at spawning time. I use azurs straw tek . Except I use a weed Wacker to chop it up because I don't own a chipper shredder yet!

It's customary to cry a little while doing so, okay?

I'm reading away... and about to give casing a try. Should all go well, I am definitely going to make the move over to poo the next tubs.

:whathesaid:  Just try to keep it away from anywhere you're going to do sterile work.  Just leave the lid on till it's outside.  If I toss something frothy green, I'll toss my clothes in a plastic bag before coming inside, then take a shower.  There's something else you should put in a bag before coming inside, can't remember what it is.  BRB need to take antibiotics.

But really, it should be obvious that if propperly executed open air spawning was susceptible to contamination, sanitizing tubs and wearing a bunny suite wouldn't help.

--------------------

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...

ohk thanks everyone. i also have a  problem that I've never run into before... i inoculated some brf jars with a syringe from a print that i took and i can only see two inoc points growing out of 3 jars (2 points per jar) and the only spots that have growth i can also see a little tiny black spec which i know for a fact is a spore that got squirted in there, so  my question is.. is it possible i didnt mix my spore solution up enough to distribute the spores throughout the water in the syringe? or u think its just colonizing faster because there is visibly more spores in the one inoc point. so confused here . lol.

Here's some photos of what I mean

The top jar look kinda funky. It may just be the lighting and the fact it's new growth but it does look somewhat wet/slimy.

Time will tell though.

I guarantee you that you cannot see a single spore with the naked eye in that jar... It fine...it happens, just let them do their thing.
