If I really meant it I'd of called you an asshole not a dick. Lighten up. Think about it for a second. That being said... Good luck with your transplant. I hope it works out. If you do it, put it in a spot with deciduous chips or mulch so the mycelium can grow beyond the substrate that comes with it. I understand wanting to do this but honestly I regret it. I feel like I stole from a public patch. Using one chip to make some spawn for next year would've been the responsible thing. I'm going to make spawn solution to give back as penance. If you are concerned about competition, try covering them with leaves. Which is really obvious but still fair play.

There are enough mushrooms out there for EVERYONE TO BE A DIGGER 10 times over. Don't let the utterances of someone hurt over you digging effect your science!
When humans get wiped off the face of this planet by the next E.L.E. extinction level event. Fungus will take back over as if all the digging never happen.
omeone tells you about THEIR mushroom patch an you go an get them all you get them all YOU ARE A DICK. If you found the mushrooms on your own with no assistance. It is you right to take as many as you NEED and NOT feel like a dick.
You can take up to half if a friend showed you their spot.

In no way is a mushroom patch on property you do not own your own. I wish people would get this notion out of their heads.
There is a loose set of etiquette to which hunters are hoped to adhere, and which we should all strive to improve and foster in others but that is all.

No one owns anything, everything brought to you by your own mushroom hunting is a gift that all humans have dominon over. The mushrooms will teach you.
That etiquette is brought on by experience. My idea of need. is a lot more complicated than what you think you need. It is what mother earth has coming to you.
Going out 20 times taking WY more mushrooms that you ever will need is just a step in the learning process. You end up with 4 pounds of dry cubensis the first year and sit on it 2 years end up throwing it all away and not growing in the most scientific mycological way because of hoarding. Then you grow psst and your actions AFTER that kind of hard lesson you spread spores 20 places causing the growth of 20 times more mushrooms you ever took.
No one continues this path that hs any sense or honor. Most mushroom people that stick in it are honorable.
So its a problem that solves itself. Probably makes itself worse with harsh ideas about the subject.

Last year, here in the Bay area, I found and babied a beautiful patch of cyans. On the day I was going to harvest, another Shroomery member found the patch and yanked up every specimen, pretty much destroying the patch. Lol, then he posted pics here. I was livid. But I realized that the patch was now as much his as mine. We both discovered it independently. So I convinced him to meet me at the patch, and we agreed to split future harvests 50/50 if it fruits again.

OGM SUCH A BEAUTIFUL STORY!!!! canid Also the mushrooms are testing you too. Time to let go of the notions that you have about the way OTHERS SHOULD be hunting. Preach love and understanding and you will reach more than with anger and entitlements because you are honorable.

The overwhelming majority of the human population, to include individual and incorporated property owners are quite likely to disagree with you on that point. It can't, for all present purposes be helped. This is a distinct concept from a community ethos or etiquette, which is what is under discussion as far as I can see. But I'm pretty sure are contradicting your earlier post in any event.
The rest is half incomprehensible in places and again self-contradictory though I suppose I get the gist. You are describing a philosophy and this is not the forum for that, or particularly to get bogged down in it.

Some of you guys are strange. I would never meet some random guy off the internet at a park to talk about splitting a patch. I mean seriously they are just mushrooms.

(I go to the park act like I own the place and no one gives a damn is what I mean.) Not that I actually OWN it.

This, this so much. I see a lot of active hunters on this forum like little dogs in a car. Everything they can see out the window is theirs, doesn't matter if it's in passing or if they go there first, ect. "My patch got ect, ect, ect!" Well, most everything I see on here is in public. is it yours because you stumbled upon it one year? How many have picked it before you? does it matter that most of them are on public property?
It's only your patch if it's on your property and you started it there. If you want "your patch!" then make one at home. Mushrooms don't belong to anyone.
That said, I try to cut all the ones I find as to not tear myc. I also propagate from stem butts or one or two chips instead of digging up a patch. If you want your own patch in your yard then look at stem butt tek. This will ensure you get a patch without you in all likelihood killing a patch by digging it up. If you want to grow your own wood lovers, it takes time.

Fair enough. Confidence is often the only thing that allows a person to openly do a reasonable thing which others do not understand or do not like unmolested, or at least at all. It has it's limits of course but it is very useful.

Someone destroyed a once-flourishing park. Every time conditions were right, I'd find dug up patches about 4-6 inches deep and done with a trowel. Always done at pre-dawn hours. Breaks my heart. I can only hope he or she is transplanting them somewhere else for good reasons.
I'm doing stem butt tek when I find more azzies and I'm painting PDX purple. Salem can do its own thing with homeless people dying tripped out of their minds or killing each other. This is why we can't have nice things.

Hunting shrooms is a lot like fishing. Just because You catch a mystical 16inch Brown in the hooch (RARE AS FUCK) and you let it go becasue its the mystical right thing to do. Does not mean 4 high schoolers jondesing for drugs arent gonna scrape your whole park clean.
Its sad and I;m sorry. But that is the way it is sometimes and I think the way it should. Those who need most should take most or more than they need should they then learn soon that taking too much is not as good.

I've started 3 patches with one thread of mycelium. This dynamic is cute.
