Large bricks of hydrocoir at ace tend to be a good deal. Otherwise you can get it at a petstore for like 2.50-3$ And obviously the fucking internet.
How much you need would depend on how much spawn you have and how big your tubs are.
One standard brick is supposed to be 650g, makes 8+qts. Use about .75qt (or one quart jar) of spawn for 2 quarts of coir.
Try to keep your substrate depth below four inches and above two.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Im lazy and always use bricks so I dont have to bust it up and weigh it out. they usually weigh 650g. I blend one with vermiculite to bulk and pasteurize for an 18 gallon tub or so (I think thats the size tub)

A hydro store is a good place to get coir too.

Cool I didn't realize they had it at ace. I have seen it seasonally at the large chains like lowes and home depot in the spring. Is it also seasonal at ace?

you can also get coir at pet stores. It's used as reptile bedding. So it won't be seasonal. I get 3 packs of bricks for $8

That's about what I pay at pet store as well.
And it seems to be pretty clean too.

Don't think so but it isn't at every Ace. Also don't expect an employee to know what the fuck you're talking about. Just carefully comb through the soil shit section where the verm/perlite/potting soils are kept.
I think it's like $12 for 60 hydrated quarts, so it's prolly half a kilo, so 1.56$/brick + tax. Also sometimes the little bricks (ecoearth at least) are only 500-550g. Not the cheapest, but cheaper.
Also, the big brick is way nicer. I just attack it with a claw hammer and chip off as much as I want. I use a few quarts here and there for test pans and casings. Breaking up those little bricks requires better aim with a hammer.
