Pan Cinct?
    #22483055 - 11/05/15 08:46 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Wood chip beds in local park; Portland area

Gills:
Dark colored; mostly black after drying; See pics

Stem:
See pics

Cap:
3/4" - 1" diameter; various colored pattern

Spore print color:
Black to very dark grey; some have slight purple hue on edges of the print pattern; see pics

Bruising
None seen

Other information:
I think there may be two different types of mushrooms here; some of the stems look much darker; pics look similar to pan cincts to me (a noob). Let me know your inputs on the ID.

Thank you!

I am trying hard to learn how to properly identity them as I amhaving no luck finding other actives... What is it about these that rule out cincts?

I found another possible cinct in a different park that has a darker, more red stem. See pic below.

I left it so I am unsure of the print color. Does this one look like it could be a cinct?

They might be a Panaeolus but most likely they are Psathyrella. It is very probably the same species as in the first post.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Generally speaking yes but they do turn up in such places from time to time.
