Casing Substrate depth
    #2248287 - 01/17/04 02:17 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Ok so today I cased 2 colonized jars with strait verm in a 1ftx1ftx6in tupperware bin. However the bin is rather large for 2 cakes and the substrate layer is very thin, does anyone know if this should be an issue since its not very thick. Should I let the casing incubate and then add more substrate when I have more fully colonized jars, or will it be ok to induce fruiting with a thin layer of substrate after a few days. Any input would be appreciated. thanx

well..i experimented with some thin substrate..but its better to go deeper..cause there is more for the mushies to grow on...this substrate will produce smaller mushies..

bigger= better volume of mushroom
