smoking mushrooms
    #22482656 - 11/05/15 07:17 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

I know everyone says that you can't get any effects from smoking dried mushrooms but hear me out...

Around 10 years ago my brother and I were going on our second trip. We each took half an eighth and were roughly 2 hours into our trip (?) and had a blunt pre-rolled for the occasion. We had some mushroom shake left in our baggie and my brother suggested that we smoke it, so he licked the blunt and threw it in the baggie and shook it up leaving the crumbs on the outside of the blunt. When we smoked it I remember a strange blue smoke coming from the burning mushrooms on the outside of the blunt, it was clearly a strange effect from the mushrooms burning. I had a strong feeling of blaspheme and felt like burning them was wrong. Shortly after going back inside the effects started setting in, but only for me. We both explain my reaction the same, as a "loop" and it happened probably 10-20 times over and over. We sat in his room and he described how he was feeling and I remember nothing of it. When I would try to describe how I was feeling I would start off by saying, "it's kinda like" then apparently I would open my eyes really wide and my mouth would gape. This is the part that makes me believe smoking them DOES do something.

TLDR - Start here:
The part when he saw me spacing out I was in another dimension, in a blank space with my brother sitting beside me frozen and a female being telling me I shouldn't be there and I have to wait a while before I could leave and I would be in and out of there a few times. She knew everything there is to know about anything. She was friendly but somewhat annoyed like she was stuck there babysitting me until I was gone. Each time I visited her I would ask for all the knowledge of the universe and each time she told me that I wouldn't be able to handle that much information and would instantly forget it and tried to talk me into asking a simpler question and each time I insisted. She would give me the information and I would snap back to reality afterwards and would be there in my brother's room with him in awe over my reaction. Then he would ask me again how I was feeling and go back into the loop. Each time I was only gone for a second. To add more to that, every time my brother and I trip together we always share experiences and visuals at the same time as the other and this time we broke apart and I went somewhere else.

I've never tried smoking them because I never felt the need to and I've always guessed it would taste like shit. Even if it has some sort of effect I cba would rather just chew up my eighths each time quick and easy.

why would you want to smoke shrooms anyways, I think that would be pretty disgusting. you put this in the marijuana subcategory by the way. a quick search would have shown this question has been asked many times.

You shouldn't underestimate how powerful the addition of cannabis can be to the psychedelic experience. Cannabis is emotionally demonic/parasitic and the effects become more powerful sometimes just because you suppose or maybe worry that this will be the case.

If I were to take two hits of acid and then choose between some cannabis or another 2 hits I am certain that the cannabis would have a far greater effect than the two hits would have.

These days I wouldn't even do it because how dangerous and psychotic this combination is for me personally. Cannbis is a very powerful and suggestive substance.

I don't smoke weed during my trips anymore either. The combo is too unpredictable for me. Sometimes it turns out great other times it ruins the experience because it becomes more intense then I wanted it to be.

The scary thing about cannabis and psychedelics is that for many people and me especially it causes delusions.

In comparison -although they can be terrifying- I have found things like mushrooms, Anahuasca LSA, mescaline and LSD to be comparatively benevolent in that surrendering to the experience with these substances actually bears fruit. The requirement is that you let go. Surrendering or just trying to let go with cannabis though didnt seem to be nearly as effective.

One reason I warn people about this combo is because I was once able to take psychedelics and cannabis mixed together too and fucking loved it. That can all change though and the result very often is not your average bad trip. We're talking panic attacks and delusional skizophrenia.

I see it almost like a chemical reaction. Cannabis plus LSD, plus panic equals paranoid psychosis.

There's 'surrendering to death' which the hippies who take Ayahuasca often claim to be able to do, and then there is actually surrendering to death. It really isnt as easy as it might be during an Ayahuasca journey!

It has the opposite effect for me usually. It calms me down if I start feeling tense. Perhaps it does enhance the delusions, but aren't delusions a part of the psychedelic experience? I try to enjoy and embrace them.

Nah real delusions are incredibly dangerous.

If you honestly believe in everything you are thinking in the same way a schizophrenic does with there being no ability for the brain to distinguish real from unreal, then it follows that almost anything the mind can imagine can be experienced as a genuine reality.

Might be fine if the delusion is a nice delusion of grandeur, but what if the delusion is -as it was for me- somebody is coming to kill you?

Honest to god I spent the night weeping and begging for my life like a victim of a serial killer. I mean I genuinely experienced the reality of such a situation and exploded in a frenzied reaction that was in truth a misguided attempt at self defence.

Um yeeeaaahhhh.......

I've smoked a lot of weed with a lot of different people on a lot of different psychedelics, mostly lsd I would believe. Not once in my life have I ever seen a reaction come anywhere close to this.

I've seen people get uncomfortably high after smoking and have to go sit down for a while to get their bearings. I've seen people that have been dancing all night take a rip and then just sit and trance out for the rest of the night.

I'm sorry to hear you can't enjoy a smoke on a trip anymore. It's honestly one of my favorite things to do in that state.

Yeah the psychotic break even for me was an extreme case, however...

I think panic and anxiety when smoking weed with psychedelics is alot more common than you think these days. A group of people sat together tripping and smoking weed can descend into a very weird situation and some real conversational and social atrocitys can occur due often to mutual paranoia.

But not just with psychedelics but just weed in general with it being so powerful these days is leading to more and more negative reactions. So many people I know these days wont touch it and cite reasons such as anxiety and paranoia for avoiding smoking. A good proportion of users on this forum too feel this way, although many of us still use psychedelics.

I do actually love smoking weed still, its just something I have to go into these days as if I am approaching a psychedelic experience and I must be prepared to really let go and be brave.

I know plenty of people who feel exactly as you guys do (I did once too) but just as many who feel like me the opposite. Cannabis is bad news for all sorts of reasons though IMHO and unless you are very mature and have got your shit together it can really mess your life up.

The anxiety it gives me these days is probably a blessing as it keeps me away from really attempting to get any.

The psychotic break I experienced when I was younger was not something I could just shrug off and did alot of damage psychologically. It was in terms of terror probably akin to going to war or some other similarly gruesome existential crisis.

This is somewhat off topic, but reading this thread reminded me of it.

Last year I begged my friend who I hadn't seen for a decade to fly out to the Bay area to mushroom hunt for a couple weeks. When we got to my place from the airport, I packed him a bong of GDP (cannabis). Talk about flipping out!!! He lost all control...howling, hitting me, breaking glass, projectile vomiting. And it went on for more than an hour and a half! It was a fucking nightmare. I ended up fearing for my and my cats' safety and had to call the fuckin police. He spent the night in the emergency room.
