Mushrooms found in same field as Liberty Caps - ID please!
    #22480827 - 11/05/15 11:50 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Hey all, first post here hopefully be more to come

I was wondering if you could help me ID some mushrooms I picked today. Got a load of liberties as well, but these were popping up all over the same areas. At first I wasnt sure if they were just big, wet liberties (as I almost always find tiny ones) so i grabbed them and brought em' home. Now im just curious!

All the above images are whilst the shrooms were still damp.

and a little bonus picture of the actual liberties all stacked up

To sumarise their appearance, they have a lacking of the pointy nipple on top but do have a raised umbo but its more subtle. The top of the mushrooms are light brown, going to a small layer of darker brown near the bottom of the cap.

They have dark grey to brown gills and most have a reddy brown coloured stem. Whereas the typical liberties i find seem to have a flaring in at the bottom of the cap towards the stem, some of these are more often slightly straight edged, but never flaring outwards. Could they be Psathyrella or Panaeolus? Just trying to educate myself

If you need any other pics or anything, just lemme know.

Thanks

Wow thanks for the fast reply!

Excellent! After some reading interesting to hear about their  serotonin, 5-HTP, and tryptophan content. Interesting stuff.

Thanks again
