Mystic/dreamy books
    #22480419 - 11/05/15 10:05 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

I like surreal, mystical, psychedelic, dreamy atmosphere. I know games like the void (after death, you wander around the dreamy world and gather colour to survive), atlantis II (you meet monk on boat at the center of Syberia and you start your journey, first journey as monk at Middle-age Ireland where you meet monk who saw something on the sky and can't talk anymore and you have to solve the mystery, next journey in ancient China, where village is haunted by shadow, you enter the beautiful world where everything big when you're small and then you enter the chinese hell, where you are a clerk, third journey you're an aztec and wander to help the leader. You wander through jungle and you meet very big web, where are many spiders and you have to get to the center avoiding the spiders). Music like Shpongle, Carbon based lifeforms, but  don't know any books like these. So, finally, I search for books that move imagination.

Hmmm I can't think of many specifically that I could recommend to you but I know of a couple authors you might dig. Kurt Vonnegut is great, very dry/dark sense of humor and mostly always mixes his books with sci-fi, slaughterhouse-5 is excellent, as are cats cradle and Galapagos. I bet you'd like Philip K Dick, I haven't read much of him but a scanner darkly is one of my favorites for sure and he has a lot of other wild scifi stuff. I've heard Infinite Jest is supposed to be pretty great as well as Cloud Atlas, I've heard they're both a bit complex tho. times arrow is supposedly pretty cool as well. It's pretty plain jane but I really liked Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, was the last book that I finished with "wow" on my mind? It's a pretty easy read too

Peace
