2001: A space oddesy(sp?)
The film is a bit shite now but the book doesnt have all lame 70's representations of the future.

I read this book once, something to do with a bloke called god and his son jesus. It was alrite but a bit unrealistic.

Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. it changed my life, seriously.
1984 and High Fidelity are my other favorites.

+ A Clockwork Orange

I'm working on Brave new World right now (got it for Xmas). I could never pick a favorite book.

Off the yop of my head I'd recommend:

House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

Leaves of Grass - Walt Whitman

Hard decision... I can only name a few top books

Animal Farm - George Orwell
1984 - G.O.
LOTR - Tolkien

Hmmm... also like Neuromancer, of mice and men, brave new world... haven't read in awhile though.

The Silmarillion -J.R.R Tolkien
The Epic history of the elves, dwarves, men and other creatures of middle earth.
This book takes place before and in the 1st age of middle Earth(the LOTR is in the 3rd age)
Amazingly this book has affected my own philosophy and spiritualism~ I know its fantasy :tongue2: yet the parrallels from it to the earths history and my own history are amazing.
although some find it a hard read if you are adapt to history, interested in the LOTR, or simply dig mythology..this is a must read!

The Outsiders -S.E. Hinton  An amazing talent for really giving characters life...from the shy, hurt  yet painfuly loyal Johnny.. to the hardened, crude and heroic Dally, it seeems she is able to create characters you feel you have known at some point, and will never be able to forget.
whether you like them or not you cant help but love them.

The Bible -??
I dont really know what If the biblical faiths are true, but for me the bible will always be true.
The key message speaks right to me and warms my heart, for this it will always be my favorite.
If you are going to read it I reccomend going in with a prayer of understanding and no pre-concieved opinions.
At best it may change your life, At worst you will gain a little wisdom.
" For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit, neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  For every tree is known by his own fruit.  For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. "

A Brief History of Time -Stephen Hawking
For anyone interested in getting a understanding of (pretty much) modern physics, this is the book.. about as simply written as the subject matter will allow, although proffesor Hawkings writing style is quit crappy IMO..this book is still a must for anyone who has ever stared at the sky and wondered..

MMGG changed my life

Has anyone ever read Requiem for a Dream?
I loved the movie and from the bits and pieces on the DVD it seemed like something I might enjoy.
