Help a confused fool out. My skinny blue tank just ran out and I don't want to have to buy a whole new nozzle.

Yes. Use proper ventilation whenever using a propane torch or burner due to Carbon Monoxide buildup.

Yeah, and you can also buy a new skinny blue tank without the nozzle for like $2-3.

I use the green camper bottles for a nozzle that came with the plumbing blue tanks.
As long as the threads are the same, the seals are still good, and the CAS# is the same it is completely safe with some ventilation or a carbon monoxide alarm.

Seems like it might only produce monoxide if the burn is incomplete. I wonder how well torches burn..
Thanks for the replies guys! My brother was telling me it wouldn't work. Knew he was full of it

Yeah its normally pretty clean but if the fuel:air ratio is off and you are in a small sealed room for hours it can be dangerous. It happens with everything you burn. With cars if you have too much fuel and the engine is choking it will cause backfiring when the unburnt fuel vapors ignite in the exhaust system.
How ideal your combustion is depends on how well the nozzle mixes the intake air with the propane and how open your torch is. I'm not sure if you could easily calculate it but Im positive the companies who manufacture the tanks and torches have gone through all the math during the R&D to ensure a more efficient burn
I think it is easier to choke to death on food in all honesty i don't worry about it because i'm always done within an hour and work in a large room.

Try it out.
If you want to know if you have succeeded, all you have to do is get a lighter next to the junction. You'll know immediately by the massive explosion that it did not work. Also, have a friend do the lighter test. It's healthier.

it will work fine. you should use MAPP though for many applications (its hotter so you can work faster)
also, you'll know if it leaks right away, because
a. you'll smell it b. the can will start to ice at the connection more or less right away. c. if you are worried, use soapy water to check the connection
the lighter test is better for natural gas lines.

You guys are nervous nellies.
Carbon Monoxide? A blow torch has air intake. One little flame isn't going to do shit.
