Is it okay to do G2G with sclerotia species?
    #22473831 - 11/03/15 10:36 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

I have read that it is best not to shake up sclerotia jars.  Problem is, in order to perform G2G transfers, the jars must first be shaken.  Is it okay to do so as long as the mycelium hasn't been in the jar for too long?

I just always G2G my sclerotia producers in the early stages of sclerotia production.

I actually just G2G some tampanesis a few hrs ago tht were forming stones. && I'm certain they will launch onto the new grains just fine.

Don't listen to all the hearsay.

Ideally you want to use a jar as a master for G2G when it is fully colonized instead of waiting for weeks or months.

Even an older jar that has more sclerotia than grain would probably work though

Definitely ok to G2G sclerotia jars.  All 4 sides of a jar that was G2G and that is only about 2 weeks old:

I also shook all the receiving jars at about 30%, because I stretched one pint master over 6 quarts.
