Im 20 and only been using it for 2 years. Right now heroin doesn't seem to be a huge problem for me (not saying it couldn't be in the future). Ive been shooting it for like 3-4 days every paycheck the past few months and haven't had any withdrawals.

No withdrawals from it yet? That's seriously awesome! All the more reason to stop now while it's easy.

Seriously, it is inevitable. grats on avoiding a physical habit so far though, it took me less than a year. Im not sure exactly how long. I had alot of money when I first started and I wasnt aware of what withdrawals were or that I can get them. The first time I experienced them was prolly 7-9 months after I started.

Like mushbrains said you should take an extended break or stop soon before you do get w/ds because after that first time its a wrap. I cant use opiates recreationally ever again because even after long bouts of sobriety my brain snaps right back into physical dependence again after I use, and I must endure some withdrawals

I wish so much I had never gotten addicted that one time. it was the single most life-affecting event Ive yet to experience.

Is it true that eventually if my tolerance gets high enough I could have withdrawals after one day of usage?? Somebody told me that

EDIT: oh and I should clarify. Ive only used H for 2 years. Ive used opiates in general for 4-5 years

I used heroin for 5-6 years before quitting for nearly 4 years. at that time I would experience withdrawals after a single use of heroin, or days use of heroin. Not full blown 7-day kick withdrawals, but I would have symptoms for a day or 2 and the longer I use the worse it gets and fast.

Ahh I see. Thanks for the info man. I don't ever plan on ruining my life with this shit. I know everybody says that. And that. But I really enjoy a good shot of heroin. Hopefully when it comes time to quit I will be strong enough to do so

Yep, and the mental withdrawals that follow are by far the worst. Am I right or what? Once that switch is flipped you never forget.

Every day it gets worse man. Every shot make it harder to turn back.

I was literally exactly like you. Feel free to read my posts.

You have a problem, even though it may not seem like it. You can justify it any way you want but your addicted. Dont care how many days you take off. If you cant literally stop right now and go at least a month you have a problem that will only get worse.

That being said only you can choose when its right to quit. Often that means finding out why you are using.

You say its not ruining your life. But really... really take a look at your life and why you started using opiates and why you moved to heroin and anything that had changed since. Are you slipping with your usage? Does it affect relationships? Are you still active in your community? work issues? sleep? Mental illness?

Always use clean needles and be safe man.

Heed this advice. I've been addicted to hydromorphone, oxycodone and morphine since 15-16, I'm 22 now. I still need 4mg of diluadid a day not to get dope sick.

Speaking of which I'm going to smoke some hash and snort a 4mg diluadid (do as I say not as I do). I have lots of back pain tonight and have to get up early for school and boxing

Yeah I've been having to not be moving when I do the mitts and unfortunately atm I can't roll punches:sad:. Which puts me in the unique position of learning how to block those high hooks you are expected to roll. My boxing coach is a master and the alternative works and it's a lot less labor intensive . I Just go from a forward gaurd to right next my ear basically. If you have time to roll punches you have time to catch the punches, move out of range or move your guard like I said etc.

Hope your doing well Reb.

It all depends, but yeah, I can get sick from using just one day.  The withdrawals aren't bad.  Pretty much just insomnia for 1-2 nights and some chills for a few days, minor symptoms like that, but really it sucks to be sick on any level.

You use it only 3-4 days a month?
Either way, be careful, it will probably catch up with you.

Thomas De Quincey kept his opium under wraps for many, many years but addiction eventually grabbed him by the soul.

Seriously tripping- be aware that boxing inevitably causes cumulative traumatic brain damage, which causes problems in every aspect of life including causing depression, cognitive problems and problems with memory and self control.

Although exercise is the best thing for you,  I encourage you
To find a form of exercise that doesn't involve repeated blows to the head.

Even wearing a head protector and wearing heavy boxing gloves does not prevent the brain damage.

Sparring and training does the damage too, not just fights.

Martial arts are the best but try to find one that
Doesn't invoke head strikes.
