First time. so far so good

Im a noob, sorry if im doing this all wrong but will quickly figure out the correct way of doing things around here... so anyways im posting to post my progress... this is my first time trying cultivating and i used the pf tek. i used the tall 8oz jars and its been about 3 weeks almost 4 since inoculation.
3 jars are almost completely white and the others are about half are just under. must be the jars i didnt make the holes big enough for the needle...
no contamination yet which im actually surprised. anyways will post some pics and if anyone has any tips / advice they would care to share i would appreciate it...
also one question i have. i am going to be using a ten gallon tank for after birthing. is it necessary to use a piece of Plexiglas to make a chamber or could i just lightly spray above the the tank a fine mist and keep plastic wrap on top to keep the humidity in the tank... or would that raise the chances of contamination...

build an shotgun fruiting chamber http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20195542
Jars are looking ok, just make sure to give them a week after 100% colonization before birthing. You planning on doing a dunk and roll on those?

Im not really sure what dunk and rolling are? I was planning on just using perolite and a 10 gallon tank and make a home made fruiting chamber? ill have to look into the method you said... all but 2 jars look fully colonized now. no pins as of yet

Dunk and roll right after birth, get a spray bottle and mist a few times a day.

You said that you didn't make the holes on the lid big enough for the needle to pass through, how many holes did you put in each lid? The correct air exchange helps the jars consolidate, I don't know where you are or what temps your jars are in but they seem to be taking a little longer than usual to come together. When it comes to dunk and roll I wait until the cakes start showing signs of pinning before I birth them, that way I usually see growth a few days after putting them in the SGFC.

Just watch the how to grow mushrooms on YouTube if you haven't already. Then watch it again. You'll learn a lot and it's very straight forward. Get them out of the aquarium and into a shotgun fruiting chamber after a nice dunk and roll. Spend your time wisely at this point.. like not giving extra time before birthing etc. One jar can ruin them all.

Thanks for all the input!!! Much appreciated... All of the jars had 4 holes and out the 6 jars i think 2/3 i was able to inoculate all 4 holes the rest of the jars were either 2 or 3... I have them on a table in my bedroom and the temp in the hpuse averages 60/50 degrees now the the outside temps have dropped. I would keep it warm in the house while at work but dont want to rack my electric bill through the roof...i have a feeling i will be birthing within the next week or two tops. Im excited and i rhought it was taking a bit longer than normal from reading some of the posts on here and other then the temps in my room im not to sure why. I was thinking about putting them in my closet with a small portable heater to keep the temp around 70 once i birth. Wpuld that be a good idea?

Generally it is best to let your cakes consolidate inside the jars for a full week after colonization. If you birth them right at colonization they are just going to lose water mass for a week while they try to consolidate in fruiting conditions.

UPDATE
dunked the caked for 24 hours once i saw a few pins. only one mushroom grew thus far but the rest of the cakes are now pinning and growing and it looks like its going to be a lot. i waited a little to long to pick the first shroom, its spores dropped. not sure how potent it will be, i knew i should have picked it while it still looked like a "penis" but didnt think it would open up so quickly. But as a first timer I now know. here are some pics

There was some bluish green on the cakes... Im almost certain just bruising. I used a cotton swab to test and nothing... will be posting more pics once the others are better grown

I almost went with the fish tank first until i posted this and some one above mentioned the sgfc tank... I decided that looked much easier and not as complicated and the results looked better. Im glad that i decided that route!

This is the big one from the pictures posted above, as of right now its 4 grams. Not completely dried out yet, just about there tho.

I picked these ones today, I saw some of them opening up and didnt want to wait as long as the first one. all together this little bunch is about 20 grams wet.
