reptile bedding?
    #2247117 - 01/16/04 10:27 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Hey people, Wsup? Have any of you experimental folks, ever heard of "Forest Bed" reptile bedding? I am thinking it is like coco coir.
But every site I go to, just say ORGANIC,Harmless if ingested. But none have said what it is. Some are alfafa or sisal. Can some1 search around, & see if we have a cheap substitute for coco coir?
Thanks in advance OZGROVE

The T-Rex Forest Bed is coco coir.

Check this link out: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23536

That's the 60/40 Vermiculite and Coco Coir tek. The brand of coir used in that tek is in fact Forest Bed.

Thanks for the link,Numb.I overlooked that somehow!! oh, by the way,
I found some Miricle-Gro potting soil with coco coir. But I don`t know because it has fertilizer in it. Do you think the fert. Will it hurt or help? It says,N-0.18,P-0.10,K-0.10 . That isn`t much chemical is it? It would be a good way to have coir in the sub-layer
& in the caseing too!! What do you think? Later OZGROVE
ps. I like your quote about the war on people! it sux!!

I've used miracle gro potting soil in certain experiments a couple of years ago(not with casings though) and I saw many exotic colors form inside my jars.

I use that stuff, it works great. Its already pH balanced and everything. I've never had any problems with the plant food additive.

Plus, if you want to take out the miracle grow, its in little orange pellets that are designed for time release, so they're easy to remove.

Forest bed is actually cypress mulch. it has huge chuncks of wood and a lot of smaller pieces, just like mulch for your flowers, which is what it is. I have to use this stuff for a few of my snakes that i do not want in coco coir, the ones that need a lower humidity.

Sorry, i was thinking about a different company.

http://www.permutator-reviews.com/petco/reptile-food-and-supplies/T-678414.html

Looks like coco coir to me.

The forest bed i use for my snakes is also called "Forest Bed," but it is mulch, that is what threw me off.
