Got my first pin! (after 30 days) Recommendations on how to proceed...

Been doing PF Tek and dunked/rolled/birthed very consolidated cakes 30 days ago. I've been posting here a few times (last one) and general consensus has been that despite my cakes looking dry, it seems like I'm doing all the things I'm supposed to be doing, and perhaps I have not great genetics and just need to wait them out.
Yesterday I got frustrated with waiting for these seemingly doomed cakes and let them all sit in shallow deli containers full of water, with the idea that today I would jam a drinking straw in them and fill THAT with water.
10 hours later, this pin shows up underwater:

So I flipped the cake over, so it wouldn't be soaking my very first pin to death.
So now what? Seems like my cakes are crazy thirsty and I'd like to continue hydrating them. That, and I only have a single pin, so I'd like more of those. Keep them in the shallow dishes of water until they pin? Keep them in there after they pin? Should I do the drinking straw thing I was planning on doing? If I'm using the shallow water dish thing, how often should I change the water? I noticed that the water was brown for most of the dishes..is that significant?
Obligatory pics (after 10 hours of soaking or so:)

I did pf tek back in April (Log here) and I had one syringe worth of cakes colonize and consolidate fine, and birthed them along side 20 other cakes, but for some reason while the other cakes came to beautiful fruition, the cakes made with one syringe took over 30 days to pin a first flush and the mushrooms mutured at barely an inch tall with only one or two fruits per cake. It was disappointing and I did not see them through to a second flush.
If the cakes do not look contaminated you might just try to see if they put out a second flush? I would replace them with whatever they are sitting in with a piece of foil. Just a single Later of foil between cake and perlite is enough to. I use the jar lids sometimes too.

They were on foil, but were drying out. I read that RR had been recommending setting them in shallow bowls of water to rehydrate and changing the water every few days. Anyone tried that? How long should I keep at it?

Alrighty, can't seem to find where on earth I read that the Saucer Tek should be done for multiple days, but I've found a fair number of comments saying it should be done overnight. I've moved them all back to aluminum foil and added drinking straws.

Hate to say it, but your one pin looks more like an abort. I'm still not seeing moisture on the surface of your cakes, though they don't look as dry as before.
I find bunk genetics x12 hard to believe. I would imagine that the vendor should be printing from an isolate, and presumably a fruiting isolate or they wouldn't have much luck printing it. That should mean the distribution of genetics is heavily statistically stacked in favor of fruiting (evolution is stacked in favor of fruiting.) Between the 48 injection sites on those cakes, the genetic diversity must be quite immense, plenty to smash any statistical aberrations.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

take a pic of your entire fruiting chamber. i'm thinking maybe your SGFC isn't built properly let us check it out. maybe the cakes dried out in the beginning.
also, the drinking straw thing won't help. it'll probably do more harm than good. a dunk was sufficient. it's also good that you got them out of that water. you don't want to leave them in water too long or they will get bacterial.
how do the cakes smell now? good or bad?

OP, I would recommend getting another project going. Ditch the straws and just keep up on the misting/fanning.

I have also read a post by RR suggesting to put cakes in direct sunlight for a few days to jump start pinning but it looks as though your using sunlight to fruit already. Having the same issues right now but intend to keep at it alittle longer before taking drastic measures such as these.

More like 5-15 minutes, depending on the weather. That's going to dry the cakes out rather fast, and the evaporation triggers the pinning.

@don: I'm struggling enough with the cakes drying out as it is; I'd be a bit worried about putting them in even more direct sunlight.
@Friedegg: Waiting on getting some new spores and trying agar/WBS/Coir Monotub while I wait for these guys to either fruit or sit there, drinking water for the next couple of months.
Regarding ditching the straws, I ran across a number of RR's threads saying that the straw method was a fine way to hydrate cakes, though he prefers dunking or leaving in a saucer of water. Why ditch the straws, especially when any damage to the myc (in terms of making the holes) has been done already?

@don: Found some of RR's comments on that and seems like he's saying 5-15 minutes of *direct* sunlight, as YaMoonSun was saying, and then generally indirect. I don't think I've tried that, but might be worth trying, given how resistant these guys are to fruiting/pinning.

Yea that sounds about right, I should have been more specific. I may try it myself if I see no improvement in a few days.

Here are some closeups of the cakes at the moment.
3 Questions:
-Do these finally look sufficiently moist? (Earlier pics always came back with "Those look super dry")
Here's a zoom of one of those shots. What's this thing? Hyphal knot? Pre-pin? It wasn't there before I started all of these waterworks:

- Here's my sad little pin/abort. Do I leave him there while waiting for something to happen?

Checked in this morning and the cakes are almost looking too dry again. My humidity readout is still 99%...how can cakes dry out so fast in a SGFC?

I see that dreadful straw contam in all of your cakes man. Toss that shit into a McDonald's cup
Cakes are tiny as balls. Ofc they dry out fast lol. Gotta mist to keep them glistening. 3 times a day isn't uncommon.
