How Long will LCs Keep in the Fridge

Ordered the Sporeworks Holloween special. Now I need to know how long I can keep the LC syringes in the fridge before using. I understand that the golden oyster should not go there, but the shiitake, lion's mane, and some others can. How long will the golden oyster be ok at room temp?

I put GO in the fridge for a year, it's still kicking, I'm about to fruit some of it now.

i have been in a particular sponsor's walk in cooler and they keep their spawn in there for 3 months and liquid cultures up 6 months to a year before rotating them out. it's a shitty business practice but nobody asked me haha.

My LCs are not in the fridge, just stored on a shelf. In summer 28 °C in winter at 15-18 °C I have many LCs older than a year, and still producing nice fruits. My master cultures store in disstilled water and viable. Steril procedures are the key!

It sounds like LCs are more durable than I thought. Thank you for the info.

Is that just an agar wedge in distilled water?

When I leave lcs that long (usually anything over 2 months) I always get a thick mat of mycelium floating on the surface, so I tend to try to use the lc up. I've heard from one guy that the mat will suffocate the lc below it. Does this happen to you and how do you deal with it?

You can break up the mat with a magnetic stir bar or glass chunks and shaking.

I've had mycelial mats grow in syringes too.. not always though, I don't understand this phenomenon as well as I'd like to so I can't say much more than that right now.

LC Makein' Procedure:
DO silicone injection ports and filtered lid for LC bottle. Get a cleand strain on agar. Get a sterile syringe. Get sterile disstilled water. Do it in a GB or a SAB Drip a drop to the agar plate. Scratch the mycelium with the needle inside the dripdome. Suck back inject to the LC No agar wegde or grain dropped into it.
Shake once a month, then use if ya want
I never noticed the mycelium floating on the water. I allways use distilled water and the magic mix (cane sugar ) in the LC I make 2% sollutions, bacterias slower inside instead of 4% This low nutrient content prevent the mycelial owergrowth (I think)
These LC-s for cultureing. Master cultures are the same, but I use smaller bottles, with injection port and filtered holes. Those contain ONLY Distilled water and injected with 5 ml from the grown LC above. Those are pure white liquids and only 2-3 white spots in it.
All of my bottles contains a marble what helps to broke up the mycel. I tried the magnetic stirrer, but I'm lazy And not that intensive grower now.
Hope that helped.

Thanks for the info, Why do you use distilled water for the master culture in the fridge, what would happen if you used tap or filtered water? Also why you would use distilled for the culturing LC. I use filtered tap water for culture lcs.

No problem with tap or filtered water, But tap water tends to be a bit noisi. I dont like floating elements in my LC-s I allways filter the sollution through a coffee filter to catch the floatings from the cane sugar. That is my thing, I'm a maniac
I tried some sawdust in my WLLC-s because I believe the new mycelium from spores can learn to break wood elements. Also filtering those LC-s.
I don't have filtered water, so I never tried.
I like the following way with WL-s: - Spores to Woodlover agar (PDYA with sawdust) - Grown out, safety transfer to an other WL Agar dish - Into LC, grow out - Next phase, grains or suppl. sawdust then next and next and next ...
So not to worry, they do very well in tap water too Doestn't matter.
Peace
