Gymnopilus not growing back? (massachusetts)
    #22465707 - 11/02/15 07:59 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

So I have found 4 spots in the last month or so where gymnopilus was growing. I have returned to these spots multiple times in the last few weeks, but there are no gymnopilus mushrooms growing back yet. Perhaps the temperatures in my area are not suitable for gymnopilus to grow, but I read that they can fruit in all temperatures (not sure if that's true). Perhaps I damaged the mycelium  when I harvested them, although I thought I was being pretty gentle at the time, I didn't like lift up the decaying bark or anything like that. I guess I'm just wondering why they are not regrowing in the same areas, I thought mushrooms were known to do that. I live in eastern massachusetts if it matters, we've actually had warm temperatures lately, not usual for this time of year, it was 70 degrees one day last week and a day the week before that, and this week the temperatures will all be in the 60s. We also got some much needed rain several days ago, so I don't think that's the issue. I appreciate whatever knowledge you can provide me with.
