I haven't read anything in this thread that comes off as anti-gay to me in fact I think you're the type of person OP was talking about, god forbid someone doesn't have the same exact views you do then they're anti-gay, but instead of anti-gay it's usually homophobe

The majority of gay males were teased very bad in their school days, that traumatic experience tends to motivate them to seek approval and acceptance from heterosexuals once they become adults.
Some even take it to an extreme in that without full acceptance of their lifestyle and "rights", those people are labeled as "homophobic".

I don't think it's that simple, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor. Good thinking, Qman.

For the sake of argument, let's say I care about the traditional definition of marriage. Why should I have to change my longstanding definition of the word because someone else won't feel good about themselves unless they make ME change?
Why is a gay person's desire for a word to be defined a certain way more valid than my desire to have it defined a different way?
And why is your nihilist "everything sucks and doesn't matter anyway" view trump my view that some things do matter?
If being G/L/B/T/Whatever gives you special privileges to unseat that which has always been, can gay people throw me off my property by insisting that even though it previously was my property, I now have to share the land with them because homophobe?

I've always been curious about artichokes, but I've just never really had an artichoke that I felt that way about. I do look at artichokes on Craigslist though sometimes, and I have to admit, I've been tempted to eat one. Then I think about what my family would say if they found out though.
I suppose if I found the right artichoke and the setting was just right, I'd try one.

So you're not a homophobe but just a anti-homosexual, then? Or what?
And why do you seemingly believe that Christianity has a patent on marriage? There's fucking remote African tribes where people marry eachothes.
I agree with you about the nihilistic thing being bull tho. If anybody ever pulls the "oh woe is me nothing matters" bit, kick them in the balls and tell them that it doesn't matter anyway!

Or that women are rapeophobes.
If the GLBT community wants to be treated respectfully by those outside the community, then stop treating people like they're to naïve to understand that you're just trying to control the dialog by vilifying everyone with whom you disagree.
We can't have a serious debate when you think that the only reason a person might not hold the exact same views as you is because of a phobia.

You are a right, I mean homophobes aren't usually SCARED of gay people. They just think they are icky and disgusting or something, which means they probably spend A LOT of time thinking about "nasty butt sex", which makes sense because a LOT of "homophobes" are closet gays who deal with it by self loathing.
But if what someone does behind closed doors bothers you the most accurate term for these people are Weak minded mental midgets.

FYI I really don't care what homosexuals do, if they want to call to their relationships a marriage, so be it.
I'm just trying to figure out the motivation of acceptance and approval, it seems counterproductive to seek acceptance from people that they despise.

because we tend to strive for equal rights... possibly so future homosexuals can live a life not dominated by who they want to fuck and the negative reinforcements from a non approving society. maybe it is an "agenda" or "special rights"
edit, nice play on those demonizing despising homosexuals, just so busy hating on st8 culture, oi if you weren't always like this i would call you a troll.

They're delicious when you cover them in butter and scrape the meat off their leaves with your teeth, and their hearts are to die for. Don't tell you family about them. You're going to want all that artichoke for yourself.

I'm not "demonizing" anyone, I DO NOT CARE what homosexuals do. It truly seems like you have a chip on your shoulder, maybe that's why you perceive a "non approving society" everywhere you look.

Because the longstanding definition of the word is stupid. What is the reason that we define marriage as between a man and a woman? The only reason would be religious, and religion has no business in the state. If they don't want to perform the marriages in their churches then whatever. Like it or not, marriage is a legal institution and religion has no say.

Totally irrelevant red herring. Marriage hasn't always been either. It was made up by us, and we can change it if need be. There is no legitimate reason not to.
