i recommend writing a journal.. preserve your most intimate stuff for close friends- also write poetry peace and love, j
learn from yourself, learn from others, but one thing about a public forum is that it's rather random in a sense..
if you browse through the libraries... can read goethe, whitman, emerson-- some of these were really far out-- really far geniuses... learn from them.. as i mentioned, following that selectivity is like basking in the glow of their genius..
and they are very accessible -- the ones with a gift, a talent or flare -- they also have a talent for putting into words that are quite understandable..
so if it's convoluted, put it down.. a pretty good rule i have found..
along with them - mckenna and alan watts of course -- and, naturally, one thing these all share...
the most brilliant - the beautiful thing is they all share that anyone can reach it... that we all have it within us.. not a one of the most brilliant of humanity ever had a hubris to think they alone were capable of it..
'all that adam had, all that caesar could, you have and can do,' to quote emerson, who disliked quotes.
mckenna said it as well as anyone --
so a big part of it is staying creative... recently i perused a beautiful text... beyond lovely
as it emphasizes playfulness, creative.. it talks about so much; and also so beautifully -- a playful text in itself... beautiful and lovely.
but just a thought -- so, consult with the most brilliant ( by your estimation, these are just some i have considered among them... )
truly this is the best way to reach the highest potential, i have found.. i do recommend it for anyone - everyone; as i have explored further, have found that everyone is capable of it.. though we talk of everyone being divine in nature -- hinduism, taoism, others, all share this --
emerson writing it simply - every person has a genius, with a capital g, was more closer -- you know, closer to the previous view for me...
and seeing that in action - wow... simply wow. so someone you might never believe capable of it -- or no one even, in all of society - would ever believe capable of it -- even they are capable of reaching the highest level of wisdom and love.... and to see that in action - throws the previous views completely out the window.
just in my exp and view.
so i would say, consult with some of these for questions about this kind of stuff - but again, as your own heart guides... always follow your heart; it will always lead you to where you need to go.
sometimes - meditating deeply can be of vast value... can you spend 4 weeks in a forest - without any externals... simply with food and water? to practice deep wisdom, concentration and meditation?
it's a wonderful skill. i do advise it. partly because all of that is within us already.
but then-- then so much will be accessible that wasn't before -- rilke's sonnets to orpheus, tr. by macintyre ( translator is essential ) hehe. .. or others... i mean, then you reach a new level and can relate to more beauty... wisdom, peace, bliss and love, etc-- a wonderful practice for wisdom.
just a thought... and - also
like mckenna and alan watts-- brilliant and wonderful; they too shared so much about finding it out yourself....
and watts- so much beautiful... something i realized last night is -- well, have always had respect etc--
but last night i realized -- fully entered into the realization --
say what you might about him- had 5 wives, etc... the one - incredibly beautiful thing - that he completely held to...
he was never like -- he totally followed suit on the whole - 'i do not want followers' bit, and 'i do not want to be considered a guru'
beautifully -- so very beautifully -- and that allowed him to really actually be a wonderful illuminer to the universe.. to shine light.. because he was never trying to get people to follow his view.
one of the points there is -- to stay open, to stay free, to stay 'unfrozen' to use a nice term...
still -- to get along in this world, it's wise to keep a lot of this to oneself-- otherwise pointless debates and what not may crop up --
when we look at people not as friends but as opponents -- many worlds of difference there --
and instead of mutually working together, to solve some of our real issues -- such as factory farms, weapons manufacturers following a eternal growth pattern -- and all that entails -- and so forth
and the legalization of marijuana and other sacred herbs, which are of great importance...
to our society... to the health and natural sanity of humanity... and the peace of the world,
of the planet -- as well as saving other species, and reducing consumption...
such random and pointless arguments shift our attention to 'making a fool of that guy'
and one simple, beautiful - powerful, maybe... secret? truth is--
when you give up that... for years--- for lifetimes(?) then you get so much more ... like, your energy is not wasted..
if you never waste it in that direction -- you have such an advantage! which - of course - i share when i wish --
but like - politics -- for so many years i have loved both sides equally - this is the only way to heal the rift, i would say... and what rift should be there? no rift... partly it's there from the cold war -- saboteurs, and whatever else...
doesn't really matter -- like buddha said, wherever the arrow came from -- not so important as simply pulling the arrow out-- healing the wound, etc...
wonderful advice and dhammapada ( buddha pali text ) has some wonderful advice...
altho' the most important advice is sometimes missed but that's again... going to the time / space limited world... illusion'd world, in comparison with the reality -- boundless peace, light, bliss, etc. which is all around, within every cell, form of the universe..
one last thing - also which i realized last night which was rather beautiful -- like, for alan watts for instance... he's always there... his wisdom -- always gonna be there... accessible, we can use his understanding -- his 'grid' so to speak, to use a phrase from principia discordia,
while also still understanding that he was not the full truth - merely a kind soul, and wise explorer and teacher along the way.
love and peace, j
