The one I found was $350 but I recon it had about $200 worth of materials in it. If you are technically inclined you could build one yourself. Keep your eyes peeled on Kijiji in the meantime. . Hard to find one but it does happen. ! When I used to live in Toronto mycologist friends of mine used to scout out laboratories and microchip companies that were closing and go to the auctions...thats another way to find a deal!

Thanks.
Here noone really knows about mycology. Thankfully yesterday i visted that lab supply place I talked about and they have a lotta shit I will need. Agar, tubes for slants, racks, desiccant gel magnetic stirers(expensive though) and all other cool stuff. Hell I might even buy a hepa in due time. Gotta wait at least a year though till I get back on my feet moneywise

What air? The air in the room?
If so, why would anyone try to clean the air in a room? A transfer or inoculation is done in front of the filter.

Don't loose patience in the Shroomery man. People here know a lot. You just gotta sift through a lot of shit to find the good stuff.
Also, don't get jipped on supplies. A lot of mycology suppliers sell the same shit you can get at Walmart for 10x the price.

This is how Ive been setting my flowhood up lately, its in a room about the size of a childs bedroom, maybe a bit smaller.
Before I use my hood I hit the face with lysol, let it sit a couple min the turn it own, wipe down the tabletop (I set a big sheet of glass down, its just so easy to clean), turn the hood on. I let it run a couple hours usually, sometimes more or less depending on the kind of work Im doing and how much prep work I need beforehand. Usually by the time Im set up and out of the shower its been about an hour. If Im just doing some agar work Ill run it less, 20 min to half hour, never had a problem. If its in a room with heat/cool ducts either block them off or turn it off. I put a towel under the door.
The sterile technique needs to be a bit better in front of a hood IME. I wear clothes fresh out of laundry, clean tyvek sleeves, face mask, gloves. Everythinh going in front of the hood gets wiped down with ISO pretty well first. The thing to remember with a hood is the air is moving so never move anything between your filter and your work... it can blow nasties right into it.
Pretty much the same sterile tek as a still air box. I love my FH <3

Most of us that cultivate at home have to battle pretty fierce contams. Our houses are full of the normal dust and mold and can't do much about it. Of course you work in the sterile airflow man. But if scrubbing the air in the room gives any edge, and its as easy as flipping a switch, why wouldn't you? Its not gunna take much life off the filter, especially with a decent pre filter. A lot of us hit the face of the hood with lysol real quick before turning it on too.

Wow! Right though? Not hurting the hood. Mine is on overnight frequently if I poured plates or whatever
I usually know when I have work to do so I just remember to hit the switch when I walk by.

Is that when you bought/built it yourself or was there a previous owner? It was for cultivation?

I get a feeling you barely read my post. The clean air from the hood will agitate the dirty air from the room and this MIGHT find its way into your media. Sure its an extra precaution but imo if your cautious enough to build a hood its silly not to switch it on beforehand.

Small country in the Mediterranean. To give you an idea of how small it is we only have one public hospital and one university which doesn't even have a mycology section. They are planning to build a private American university but I dunno when or if it will happen. It would be nice to see someone teaching mycology here even though I have no chance of further education both public or private. At least it will increase interest on the subject and would increase specialised equipment. Nothing fancy you know. Maybe sfd's and injection ports. I haven't been able to find those at the lab supply place.
Nah man im eternally grateful for shroomery. If it wasn't for this site I would have probably failed much more times than I actually did. Imagine having the "scientists" from bluelight or reddit helping you. ur better off alone lmao.
