Agar problems, help?

Im having a major problem you guise . I want to start some slants, mainly because I need to take a break, and start focusing more on getting my shit together, but im having a problem with getting the new plates ready to slant.
All the PE plates I have from the same group(all made from the same round of plates, stored together in the fridge) have produced wall-to-wall flushes, with big, meaty Penises. They basically all look like this:
Very Rhizo, just looking all around good.
Ive picked 7 plates, and made 2 transfers each, then transferred the rest to grain to grow out. The problem is, when I make the transfers, they come out like this:
Im thinking it might be because of the agar formula. The 1st plate, was made on a MEA pre mix, the other two, the transfers, are on my own MEA agar mix, 9.0g agar =/10g LME/500ml water. Its been working for other strains, not sure why its not recently.
The only other thing I could think of is that maybe the shits been transferred too many times and I need to switch up the medium, but when I used PDA, it literally was so faint I couldn't see it, so I transferred to the MEA, and got the rhizo plate you see.
Im thinking about just slanting the good Rhizo plates because I know they're clean, even though they've been stored in the fridge for a while(just about to hit 2 months). Would that be ok?
ALSO: How much do you transfer for a slant? Would say a rice sized piece be ok? I tend to transfer bigger pieces.

More nutritious agar will slow the culture down as it digests.
Make a plate with weaker nutrients, and it'll spread out fast looking for food.

I guess that's why it isn't as rhizo. Rhizo=spreading out for foods
Im guessing I can slant either plate, the old rhizo one or the newer one. Which one would be better to slant though?
and do you change up the medium inside the slant different from what was on the plate?
