Is My Dawg Contaminated?
    #2246222 - 01/16/04 03:42 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I was in the backyard yesterday and noticed a couple clumps of seedling looking stuff that was sprouting up in a few spots on the grass. I was just there yesterday and didn't notice them so I thought it was kinda strange.  Upon closer examination I discovered some sort of mold and they were growing from my mutt's 'land mines'!   These things are almost 5" tall and look like Tribbles from Star Trek.

If anyone has ever seen anything like this or if they have a dog that shits funky molds please post some pics!  hehe

Here are some photos I took of it.

and finally the dog responsible for it all  (and also used for size comparison) and a couple of the clumps in the grass.

You can see a couple of the 'Chia-Turdz' in the foreground there!
I'm not sure if aliens have landed in my backyard or if my dog is taking up cultivation!

Peace,
-TekNut-

Yes, that last pic didn't resize properly in PuppyShop or something cuz it looks funny to me too! I think I did a color correction on that one also. I've noticed sometimes the photos look a lil different once resized down and reduced to under 100k.

Well at least the aliens never made it into the house and they didn't take over the neighborhood either so I'm glad at least I got some photo's of those things!

Peace,
-TekNut-

Wow!  Did you notice any alien crop circles in nearby fields?  This is clearly a sign that the apocalypse is upon us!

Diploid is on the right track, it could certainly be Rhizopus. I've also seen Mucor spp. that look like that. The problem is that it's impossible to identify most molds even to genus without a microscope. Mucor/Rhizopus are the most likely candidates I can come up with. . .both can get very aerial like that, very very fast.

What are you feeding your dog?I don't know if this has anything to do with it because I am by far a fungi-expert,but I fed my dog some of that Eukanuba vegetarian dry dog food because he's a fat ass and his doo doo turds had something almost similar to that growing on it,but it was'nt as thick.I thought maybe he had eaten some of the bird seeds in our bird feeder.I dunno though. If anyone knows what the hell it is I would like to know also.

She's been eating Purina One - Chicken and Rice dry food for dogs and an occasional cat turd in there for dessert.   And the stuff looks like jurassic mold or something!  It's been a couple months since I've seen any growing in the backyard but I'm sure the stuff could reappear at any moment  :O

Peace!
