Help with a recent harvest - I'm not tripping?
#22460432 - 11/01/15 03:09 AM (8 years, 2 months ago) |

Hi, I normally lurk around here as most of the time my questions are answered in other threads. However, I'm having some trouble finding the answer to this question...
Two days ago I harvested about ~25g dry "Mexican" P. Cub's. (I know that the name itself is just a marketing gimmick but I put it in just to clarify the one I had).
My problem is that, when I ate some, I didn't trip whatsoever; what could this be? Genetics of the shrooms? Bunk? Could it be something related to me, e.g. diet? Normally I trip pretty damn hard...and I did 6 grams and felt nothing (dry).
Thanks.

When you grow multispore each fruit is a different combination of genetics. It's not likely they'll be great, but you might get something.
You should post a photo for species confirmation.
They probably are cubensis found in mexico.
No tolerance effects from other saratonin 2a agonists right?
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Hi, I'm 100% sure its the p. cub Mexican. In regards to other serotonin 2a agonists, I did some truffles last week and had a blast. Mushrooms normally send me to space, however, with the 6 grams dried I did yesterday, I got nothing
Should I throw away my harvest? There's about 40-50g dried I'm estimating.

At least try making some tea out of it. Bit risky though, if you drank all of it you might randomly get shot into hell. Doesn't sound like you'd have much tolerance from truffles a week ago. Was a large part of that 6g a single large mushroom. Also are you sure they were cracker dry?
Try to throw some stamps around on marketplace and get a different print or something. That's like got to be some seriously garbage genetic distribution to come up THAT short.

Most are dry, still got about 5-6 drying off.
Question: would it matter if it was dry or not? I've tried fresh shrooms before and had success.
And would it work if it was only slightly wet? As in, it bends slightly.
(To confirm, I at them cracker dry).
Thanks.

Hmm good idea I'll make some tea from it next week. And no, it was four different mushies. Good idea, thanks. I'm going to give a friend a bunch of them today so he can test them out and see if he has similar issues with the harvest.
Man this sucks! Can't complain too much though, it's all about learning . I took a lot of time into ensuring zero contamination too.
edit: I'll also try a lemon tek, too. Maybe that'll help(?)

IME, if u try to dry fruits, and then store them, and later realize they are still bendy, and go to re dry, u have a good chance of weak fruits. make sure the bag/container ur storing in is good too. one time i used those weak/thin plastic produce bags from produce in grocery store. the cracker dry fruits poked holes in them, and a month later, they were all rubbery.
don't be scared of dehydrator heat. run that shit for 24 hours if u want.

Sweet thanks. Is it okay to use a radiator on a low setting with a fan blowing onto the remaining fruit?

if u have to ghetto rig something, those space heaters with coils would be best.
people use ovens on low with door slightly open and fan blowing in too.

Would it be wise to expect better/more potent harvests with the next flush? It sucks that pretty much all of this harvest = useless!

i mean, if u have no spawn or cakes to replace what u already have growing, u should let it run its coarse. after harvesting, dry immediately. gonna be at least 12 hours in dehydrator.
bite the bullet and make this purchase.

yea only three cakes produced a single 3.5g! was a very bad growth and no potency. then i moved to bulk and i didnt grow mexicub again...still have the syringe, but right now there are alot of things going.

i always fan dry for 12 hrs then oven dry for 1-3 hrs and they are cracker dry with no lose of potency, stored in a airtight bag with silica inside a jar in a dark cool place.
but the dehydrator is the best of course.

i did that when i first started too. i don't think its a bad way, just slower. the dehydrator is so cheap, even cheaper if u got a thrift store deal nearby. i even saw one is a pawn shop the other day too…someone must have been desperate

@blindingleaf I'm going to buy that today. At the moment Im using a fan with mushies on a towel, on top of a radiator, lying flat on a low temp. Hopefully that makes some progress.
@oontribe - do you think that it's to do with the strain itself? I grew some GT a few months ago and was blown out of this world with the trips. Roughly grew the same amount, too. I think i'm gonna stick to GT.
I guess I'll flush it and try it again, hopefully this time next week I'll have more grown...I'll be sure to update this page for those in the future who may look on here with a similar issue...

could be, could be not! there was a thread about a strain that was weak, and then a guy was trying to revive it from a very old spore print as it was regulated that the new ones were the problem. but still a single spore print/thread carries billions of genetic i don't really know how is it possible that a strain become weak. thats why i was thinking about giving my mexi-cub MS another shot but this time on a bulk growth to have many fruits to try.

Good idea. I'll let you guys know if my mate trips out on them later today; that way I'll know if it's just me or the mushies. If it's the first, I'll have a break. If it's the latter, then damn! Lol
Also, oontribe, what temp do you put the cooker on for the drying process?

for oven drying you put the mushies on the top rack, lowest temp (in my case 140) and crack open the oven, use the internal fan to circulate the air or point a fan on the lowest setting at the oven's door

Loc is right. A food dehydrator will take care of that pretty quickly. They should snap like a twig before you store them. And use some silica gel packets in the jar you store them in to prevent your dried mushies from re-absorbing moisture from the small pockets of air inside. They'll stay good for years

Hi guys, a quick update on this thread: my friend tripped out on the same stuff. So, that means there's something wrong with me, right?
All I know is that I smoked a bit of weed prior to consuming them last night, could this have reduced the affects of the mushies?
Thanks.

chill dude. if you have taken any kind of mushrooms before, cubes, stones, pans, etc, and u tripped, your brain receptors are plenty capable of rocketing you into orbit with the correct fuel. maybe these were bunk from genetics. maybe they were bunk from poor drying procedure. with ur new flush, harvest at the appropriate time, and get them cracker dry asap.
as always, start a new grow too

http://www.hipforums.com/forum/topic/262387-mushrooms-after-weed/
http://www.psychonaut.com/cannabis/22738-smoking-weed-before-eating-mushrooms.html
sorry if im not supposed to be linking stuff, however, these both talk about the effects of shrooms being reduced when smoking bud beforehand. Could it just be something as simple as that? Lol. I know that when I smoke bud when I'm a few hours into the trip Its amazing, this is the first time doing it beforehand...

I've had some mushrooms that reabsorbed water from the air but after being put in the desiccant box they were back to full potency. Just make sure hey are completely dry and try again. You also could a grabbed a handful of weak boomers from the bag. Had that happen too. Was very surprised when I dosed higher and was blown away.

i mean…yea it matters if u take fruits out of dehydrator before they are ready, and eat 6g, u might only be eating 3g of mushroom material, and 3g of residual water remaining.
if u tried to dry them, and it was not complete, and then stored them, and attempt to eat them, I'm not sure what kind of dosing would be ideal. but the storage itself was SNAFU, so who knows what kinds of oxidation was happening in the mean time.
cracker dry is cracker dry. there is no other way to determine if drying has completed or not. if u wanna eat fresh, then go at it. if not, get them cracker dry.
anything in between is a dice roll at best.

A cracker dry mushroom should snap in half like a twig at the stem and crumble to a bunch of little pieces when you squeeze the cap. That....is when you know they are as dry as physically possible, and are ready to be stored in your mason jars (with a silica gel packet or two for good measure ) *Remember, dry mushies can still absorb moisture from the air pockets in the jar over time.

dude this has been an unusual phenomenon for me in many past occasions. and most times this was with several people consuming from the exact same batch/bag, and for some reason sometimes i just dont get off. even when everyone else does.. happened before with ecstasy as well. i know ssri's can block psychedelic efects but i have never been on them so its wierd not sure what the problem is.

Years ago I remember a thread about growing on straight rice grains. From what I remember, whole/brown and wild rice grains worked ok, but when white/basmati rice was used the fruits had no bluing and zero effects.sorry if it's been asked already, but what was your substrate?
