I'm starting a colony, and need a culture. I'm not looking for a kit, just the algae. what's a good source?

I don't know a source. I just buy my spirulina in powdered form. In my experience, go for a source in Hawaii, better quality. Avoid China.

Klamath Lake, Oregon. The blue/green algae from here is better than Hawaiian spirulina, and hasn't been tainted by the nasty dying ocean.

Can Spirulina be grown on AGAR? I take them as a supplement every day.

Grow it in an aquarium. It's an algae not a fungus.

I was able to find a living culture from one of the grow kit sites.
Spirulina Living Culture
I do trust the Manufacturer Earthrise. I have tried a few brands theirs is always the most fresh and does not have any filler. I would assume based on the videos of their lab facilities and plant management that they would have the healthiest culture.
