What do I do?
Cats are territorial predators. They are programed to chase each other out of their territories.
Here's what you do:
Put both cats under the same laundry basket and sit on it.

Also, probably a good idea to give them seperate litters and food/water dishes and a little sleeping bed thing in opposite sides of the house to start as again cats get pretty territorial with litters and food, or the alpha cat will prob eat all the beta cats food and just in general cause more conflicts.

haha i was gonna write the same thing. that is probably something id do just to let them be stuck in a rut together.. eventually theyd have to team up just to tolerate the situation. cats are finnicky little fuckers if you let them run the house. but youre the lead cat, as independent as they wanna think they are, you gotta remember they follow your law.

I predict that they will eventually come to at least detente in fairly short order and eventually become buddies. Do not lessen your attention on cat 1. You have to supply double attention now that you have two.

Idiot advice. You cannot force a cat. Give them time.

This.
Cats really do mellow out after they're snipped. We just took in a 2 year old fixed male with our 4 and 7 year old females. They were hissy slappy for a few weeks, but they coexist ok now. Act like perfect angles when I feed them.
Not sure how much it costs to fix one, but I used to get live caught stray neighborhood cats fixed for free at the local shelter. I did pay 10 bucks each for rabies shot per cat before I released them. The shelter even loaned me the HavaHeart trap to catch them.

That was a lot more intricate than the piglets we did on the farm. No surgical dam and we only lost one because the razor blade slipped.

Yeah, me too. Dogs as well. That isn't the deal here. He has to get them to get along with each other, not him. A lot of idiots have weighed in. Patience is key with cats. They are gregarious but initially wary. It is not always necessary but sometimes you have to give them space. Never seen one that didn't come around. Sometimes Lola hisses at Roy but it is rare and only when he's being a dick.
