muda, how did you get the ziplock ones to work? I tried them and the lids wouldn't support the weight of the plate.. I don't trust them as much as the glad rounds

I don't know what you mean by the weight of the plate. Moste of my no pour plates are ziploc. They are my favorite. I like there size and they have better viability.

like with the glad rounds I can pick them up with the lid and it will stay closed. I originally got the ziplock because they were more clear, the glad ones are textured. but when I tried to pc them more than once the lid is so loose that only a little pressure will open it. it made me switch to the glad rounds, as long as it works for you that's all that matters

I don't lift by the lid. I like them loose so I can open them with two fingers instead of two hands. My mini rounds don't close tight anymore either.

Do you store your uninoculated plates at room temperature in that tub? I keep mine in a little tote inside my regular fridge.
Also if y'all remember, I dropped a colonized toothpick into LC solution and let it hang. It's very cloudy and has grown quite a bit. I'm going to suck up through SHIP and test the viability out very soon.

I guess I am too worried about contams getting in, there's a lot of them in this old ass trailer

I store at room temperature. The fridge will just dry them out faster. Fridges are pretty dirty too. I only refrigerator them once they are about 25% colonised for storage.

If you store un inoculated plates in the fridge you might be hiding any contams. It happens more with pour plates but sometimes blank plates are bad. And Id rather they grow out so theyre visible *before* before I go to use them

They're in a tub that I Lysol'd ahead of time, still with their foil on. I'm sure the plates are clean. But word @ drying out faster. I'll put them somewhere else later.

I leave mine with the tin foil still on and just store them like that in a tote in a closet. I go through them pretty fast but I've yet to have any issues with them drying out.

I have had loose lids on some plastic containers (larger than pasty plates) so I smeared a thin layer of silicone on some of them to and they were much tighter again. I put the silicone in the ridge in the lids, rather than on the rim where I thought it would be more likely to peel off again.

I've stored uninoculated plates in this thing for more than 3 months and they still worked fine without any sign of contamination.
I'm scared to stack them on top of each other and put them on top of my grain filters, Muda's spraying lysol on them like idgaf

It sounds like you guys worry too much. In the almoste 2 years that I've been using these things. I haven't seen a single contaminant pre inoculation.

Same here, I like the loose fitting lids too, just don't fuck with em and lift em by the lid and they're great. Much easier to quickly inoculate.

I stacked 'em today to save space
I love it when they get loose like that, makes it a breeze in the SAB. I have pasty plates from all different cycles, some 3-4 others 1-2 (Real pasty plates, not the ziploc I was using before) and I can feel teh difference after that second PC cycle it just pops off.
One or two of my lids are almost nonexistant though and you have to grab them by the side or the lid falls off completely. That's a little annoying but nothing a marker or buying more of these super cheap plates can't fix

Moste of mine have been run dozens of times. They still get it done. I haven't even changed the polly of micropore tape in over a year.

Exactly guys. Those lids get better with use. Funny how the things that worry the new people are what the vets prefer
Yeah I haven't change my micropore in a long time either. Sometimes I will stick a new piece on overtop, but thats it.

5 weeks and no sign of this uninoculated no-pour, 4oz ball jar, showing any kinds of contamination or drying out at being 1/4 inches thick.
pre-sterilized media, for the lazy guy
