Classical music and mushrooms (psychedelics in general)
    #22457098 - 10/31/15 10:17 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Hey everyone,

Does anyone here love classical music during a mushroom trip? Actually the very first time I tripped I listened to the New World Symphony from Dvorak (n°9) and it was one of the most memorable experience of my life so far

I haven't listened to classical music while tripping for a while, I can't wait to try again. :mushroom2:

There's just so much emotion in classical music, but on the downside you miss every awesome psychedelic effects from modern music (rock, electronic...). But some classical music can be quite psychedelic too, like this very famous masterpiece :

And listen to this beauty, have you ever heard something so deeply beautiful?

When the vocal part begins at 1min 20 seconds it's wonderful.

Have a good time everyone

I used to like to listen to classical music when tripping but lately I've gone more towards drumming/shamanic music.

I've listened to various versions of the Blade Runner soundtrack many times, and thoroughly enjoy it.  Last time I tripped, my youtube playlist automatically played through to the album and I was too fargone to change it...it was absolutely incredible on shrooms.

The synthesizers had such a unique vibration to accompany the journey I was on, it was amazing.  I think it had something to do with outerspace being largely desolate and inorganic if I'd have to guess.

I also like Mozart a lot on acid.  Strangely, I didn't actually really "get him" until I listened to his music on acid.

I always saw mozart like the ultimate genius, but not only a genius technicly speaking.. he was so inspired. God's voice through his music

Mushrooms often tend to make us like things we didn't really get before. I finally understood paiting, now I love it, I love going to museums..

Like Douglas Adams said:

“Beethoven tells you what it's like to be Beethoven and Mozart tells you what it's like to be human. Bach tells you what it's like to be the universe.”

Nice one

How do you all hear music while in a mushroom trip? I talked with a girl a few weeks ago and she said she never experienced how I experience music with mushrooms.. weird. But to me I can hear EVERY SINGLE NOTE coming out of the song, the sound almost feels touchable and in 3D when I close my eyes. The bass is extremely powerful yet so soft and calm, the tiniest sounds can be heared just like any loud sound. It's incredible. First time I hear music on shrooms I cried of happiness :smugjerry:

I love classical music... Im in the process of writing my own piano work because I hope to become a composer of sorts. Ive reached a mental wall and I havent tripped in years. I hope to find some shrooms soon... I imagine writing music will become much easier.

I find that anything that tickles the mind is really rewarding on psychedelics.... like playing chess on acid, that was really intense and hilarious.

May many mushrooms manifest my mind

At lower doses mushrooms increase aural acuity, you hear the music better, the harmonies are clearer, the melodies stand out, at higher doses though, the timbres shift and tones get wobbly, you get aural hallucinations that give a microtonal vibrato and extremely thin, tinny timbre to the music that can just sound awful.  For me, the already fuzzy and fluid tones of eastern music sound way better at high doses of mushrooms.  If I close my eyes, mushrooms will give me entities whose shape and personality fit the music.

Acid doesn't distort sound as much, it makes it clearer, you hear everything plus your mind adds nice little flourishes, and if you're lucky, you'll get synaesthesia where the music will turn to physical distortions of space and time that you can see, the textures and colors will pulse and vibrate to the tones.  It's fucking amazing.

Yeah, that's what it's like.  But as a musician I hear it pretty much like that all the time, still, it's better with shrooms.

The only drawback is even at full volume (a couple hundred watts) I still want to turn it up.

So that's why I've been building a 600 watt system with dedicated subwoofer...:gimmebass:

When I trip on cacti, during come-up I listen to some powerful music e.g. metal, rock or electronic genres. But once it truly kicks in 3-4 hours in, I switch to some more sophisticated genres and artists like Dead Can Dance, jazz variations, world music etc but never tried classical music yet.
