if I fly to England for work and it's on a workday, can I add more than 8 hours of work to my time card? like it took me 12 hours to get home and I feel like the company I work for should pay me more than the typical workday.

Talk to your superior.
--------------------
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Generally, no. It sucks, I know. But ask and try for sure.

Some decent companies would cover that. Most probably dont. I'd add the time personally, flying sucks and they sent you there so it's on there time. Sort of.

I say pick your battles. If you are ever to be successful at your job and build a career you will not do so trying to nickle and dime your employer for extra hours related to travel. Does your job have an opportunity for advancement? If so, I suggest you not mention it. In fact, you should be seeking out these opportunities to demonstrate that you are of the mind and have the commitment necessary to be more successful than the other suckers that would whine about a few hours here or there.
I am a salary employee with a career. This translates to-- I go to sleep emailing clients and wake up with my notebook beside my bed early in the morning and start taking care of business activities. My CEO knows that he can rely on me, that I won't bitch and whine about hours and pays me in accordance with the effort that I put in. If your employer isn't the same and you think you have it in you to develop a career than you should seek out other opportunities.

Once or twice, its fun. When you are regularly going to Asia and Europe it really sucks. You spend massive amounts of time away form home with no extra pay.

that is exactly how I view it. Traveling for work isn't necessary a vacation to U.K. I was at the airport and on planes in Economy seating all day..like 14hours to get back. So yeah, airports aren't fun And I wish I could charge Overtime. My boss told me I can't charge OT for days traveling.

dude that is bad advice. it doesn't hurt to ask quick, get an answer, and do your timecard accordingly. Maybe if I'm making a 75000 salary I wouldn't say anything, but finding out how other employees mark this travel time is a valid and acceptable question. It's not like I'm asking How Do I charge this meeting?

Matter is almost definitely solved at this point, but if it isn't and your job is centered in the US..
I'm no lawyer, but Google is easy to use. The short answer is yes you legally must be compensated for travel time. Your job makes you take time out of your life, they are required to compensate you for it. The job requires you to spend those hours to their benefit, when you could be using them to your own. That demands compensation.
Personally, I was paid when I had to travel. Not just per diem (which is for living costs) but those hours were also counted towards my weekly hours, including overtime. I've experienced no car ride better than one I'm getting paid well over 20 an hour for. Nearly 400 dollars just to sit in a vehicle and nod off the entire time? (not to mention the 5+ hundred dollar per diem which even with motel room still leaves you with a few hundred dollars profit) Marvelous. Let's do this shit all the time.
--------------------
With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline
