I think you are right on the repelling of condensation, i had the same problem, but everything was fine, just make sure that it looks air tight from the outside,

just to jump off topic for a sec, watch out for warping of the plexiglass. Seems to like to do that. Your pimps (good one! :smile: ) project sounds like one I built once, and I had no problems, so I hope it's cool for you too.

OK, so is there any way he can test to make sure the humidity is high enough? Or should he just put the cakes in, and see what happens?

you could get a hygrometer. Very handy piece of equipment to own. A good one will give you a very accurate mesurement of humidity.
