GT grow PF tek

First grow, MS syringe of Golden Teacher. PF Tek.
Initially inoculated 10 jars.
This is day 3 after inoculation. It might be hard to see but this was the first day I started seeing mycelium growth. This was also the day I noticed 4 jars had the ever slightest green speck. I left those jars alone for another day or two but quickly saw the green speck grow (trich). Those were tossed.

Day 7 No other contams showed up from the remaining six jars.

Day 14 - Jars are around 90% colonized. The top left jar was my last jar I inoculated and ran out of spores on the very last hole. So that jar took an extra day or two to fully colonize.

Close up of the "last" jar I mentioned above. This was a few days later when the mycelium from either side closed the gap.

around day 16 - all jars fully colonized, consolidation started.

Not all jars consolidated for the full week. I birthed them as I saw pins form. So all jars consolidated at least four days. Some were birthed at day five, some at six and one at the full week. Here they are in my SGFC that's not to spec.

First flush - Temp 66-68, RH of room 60%
Things were looking pretty good...

Until I noticed I got a cracked cap and on another the veil broke early. Made a thread about it and was relieved to find out they will still grow. Around this time I was still having trouble dialing in how much to mist. Because of the cracked cap I started to mist way more than I needed to. But my SGFC at the time wasn't to spec.

Fearing I was about to mess everything up I decided to run out and get another tote, buy a drill and a 1/4" drill bit and I built a proper SGFC to spec.

Various pics.

Obviously these are still maturing mushrooms. Most of those grew a ton within 24 hours of taking these pictures. I never got any pictures of them fully mature because I got too excited. I just harvested them, weighed them, and threw them into the dehydrator. Will do my best to take more pictures of the second flush.
But here's the last cake to be harvested. I also took a few spore prints for future work.

So all together I harvested a whopping 147g wet from six cakes. 10g dry. From inoculation through first flush took 36 days. Just a note: I kept reading how mushrooms are 90% water weight. But as you can see my dry weight is a lot less. I found out that 90% is a general idea. Mine had a bit more water. So overall first flush was quite a bit less than what I expected but...
I'm looking forward to my second flush...

During the "rest" time before dunking, this cake decided to pin like mad! I wasn't really misting the cakes directly, just keeping the perlite moist. Then the cakes were dunked for 10hrs. overnight and are now in the SGFC again. Other than the pins on the one cake, the rest are starting to show a lot of hyphal knots poking through the top verm layer. I'm hoping the rest of the cakes will look like the one above in the next day or two. I'm definitely looking forward to the second flush!
Second Flush - Temp. 72-75, RH of room 60%
Day 40
Day 41

Day 42 evening/Day 43 morning

Day 44

Day 45 evening/Day 46

It's interesting to see the first flush produce just a few large fruit and the second flush produce clusters of smaller fruit. Both flushes came out to similar dry weight. I wonder what will happen in the third flush?
Harvested 160.8g wet. 11.3g dry. It's nothing to brag about but I'm happy with the results so far (about 21g total).
Third Flush - Temps 66-68, RH of room 50%.

Unfortunately the third flush didn't get enough time before I had to leave out of town for work. I was going to be gone over a week and didn't realistically think anything would survive without misting so I threw the cakes out (cringe). So the night before leaving I harvested what I could and got 2.5 grams dry. Most cakes were barely showing any pins, it sucked I wasn't able to let them grow out. Oh well.
So that's a wrap on my first grow! Thanks to the TC's for all their knowledge on this site. I've learned a lot and can't wait to start another grow. I still have syringes of P. Cubensis Ecuador and Cambodian varieties. I plan on starting another batch of jars in December for fruiting in January. My goals are to reduce contam during inoculation and hopefully get all ten jars colonized, continue taking prints, eventually getting a PC so I can start working with agar, and trying out other teks. In the mean time I tried 2gs a few weeks ago in lemon/tea and had a fantastic time! It had been several years since I last tried shrooms and this trip was amazing to think I created it. It was very rewarding. Till next time...

well i guess it might not work for any recipe, but i have tried potato / honey and just BRF and that seems to work fine.
oh and btw: nice job. 4 grams per cake is pretty good for a first grow.

Thanks! In regards to agar, I'm reading up on Pasty Plates. And since the golden rule on here is to follow a tek to the T, I'd rather wait until I get a PC for that.

Thanks for the rating! Cultivating wasn't as hard as I expected it to be, fairly straight forward really. Yes, my trip was definitely incredible, I'll have to type up a report to keep a log of those too. Afterwards, it felt like I "reset" my brain, removed the negative clutter, and I've been much more clear minded ever since. Very positive experience!
