T. Pachanoi hybrid?

Hello all, I recently ordered some T.Pachanoi cuttings online, upon receiving the two cuttings I feel they are some subtle asthetic differences which leads me to believe one of them is a hybrid or seperate species.
this is cutting #1 I believe it is T. Pachanoi. Note that the majority of the spines are broken or missing, I guess it was handled roughly.

and here is cutting #2, I suspect it is a hybrid or seperate species?

They both look like non-pc pachanoi however the second one may or may not be peruvianus. Grow it out for a year or so and you will have a better idea.

#1 is def a Pachanoi, #2 may be peruvianus, or at least has some peruvianus in it.

^ What they said. However, I think the first one might be PC.

thanks guys!
unfortunately growing them out isn't an option, and I ordered these two specimens for consumption.
as an aside; I know a 1' by 4" specimen is recommended for consumption, however as you can see these two are about half that size, are they too young/ small to contain enough mescaline for a decent trip? I plan on consuming both together.

IME small young cuttings won't make you trip very much. Best to grow them out, get more material then have enough left over to propagate after the trip. What if they're super awesome and potent? You'll really regret not having more. And if they're not, that's not enough to trip. Mescaline is not for the impatient.

It's not that I'm impatient... I'm studying in China for the next 9 months so even if I manage to grow it out nicely I can't realistically take it back home with me.
Anyway I consumed both cuttings and had a body buzz going that felt equivalent to like 3 beers or something. But the night before I had consumed a larger cutting and experienced some slight Cev's but I wouldn't say I was full on tripping. Doing it two nights in a row most likely gave diminishing returns on the second attempt last night.
My real question is pound for pound is the mescaline content in young and mature specimens comparable? for instance 2lbs of mature material and 2lbs of immature material containing a comparable amount of mescaline?

2bls wet of each? In my experience, no. I suspect that the process of drying out a bit and going dormant in the winter and drying out in the summer during dry spells cause the plant to try to protect itself with more alkaloids. The younger plants are mostly water and not a lot of tissue, you'll find that they dry to much less of a dried weight for the same fresh weight as they are more water weight, and when I've tried young peyote they were at 1% mescaline, maybe even less, whereas mature specimens are known to be more in the 4-6% range.
Older, thicker plants give you way more bang for your buck. If you're in China you should be able to find some pretty big peyote around, although they might cost a bit more than the bridgesii you're ordering. Maybe not. You should look into it.

Yeah, I agree with Zapp. IME, young specimens will have less mescaline, pound for pound, compared to older plants.

Thanks guys, peyote is plentiful and easy to get a hold of here but the cheapeast I can find is around ~$10.00 USD per button, which would round out to $100 or more for a decent trip. Which wouldn't be a problem but I'm a scholarship student and we aren't allowed to work so I'm not sure if I'm ready to fork out that much.
In the same token I can get T.Pachanoi 20-25cm cutting for less than $4.00 so I'll try that out next week.
thanks again
