Pretty sure dinosaurs evolved for a longer or similar time to humans
Humans and other apes are part of the same family yet night and day in capabilities
Don't be naive and believe that our form is the only possible recepticle for intelligence
We dont know dinosaurs didn't eat psychedelics or have primitive civilizations, the nucleur glass would have taken out all evidence, I was under the impression fossils were the result of uncommon circumstances, may be wrong
These intelligent dinosaurs would have started living in caves probably, which happens to be the only place to survive the heat that caused the nucleur glass, while our ancestors lay nestled under the earth
the probability leans in its favor
Face it people they may have survived underground And have it out for the new king
Insects will be the next, hope we at least get another million

I don't know whether to take this seriously or not. It's such an absurd post/opinion I have great difficulty imagining someone could actually believe this.
Single cell organisms have had vastly more time to evolve than both dinosaurs and PRIMATES combined.
You think there are intelligent, self-aware single cell organisms?
EDIT: Actually let's change that to bacteria. It's a better example.

Yeah I dunno about nuclear ass but you don't have to worry about insects cause they were too stupid to develop a better way of breathing.

Dinosaurs evolved into birds, and Birds are pretty damn smart. Personally, I think humans just beat birds to the punch by a couple hundred thousand years.

If you look at the fossils, after the dinosaurs died out, birds where the dominant animals on land for a while, until the mammals got their shit together.

As big as toy planes, but still, quite impressive beasties, yeah? Those giant ass athropods lived long before the dinosaurs, tho, in a time of giant amphibians and the first reptiles.

Could be, could be, but that time period, if I recall correctly, was one of huge forests, where fossils form very difficult indeed, so we know a lot from what was dug up in tarpits, petebogs and other such places where fossils form relativly easy.
Also there where bird alpha predators, but no mammals on that level for at least a few million years. But when the big mammals came, the giant birds died out pretty quickly.

naw you still arn't getting it, the lack of fossiles doesn't mean those animals didn't exist........fossils are mearly a tiny slice of what was around, it only gives us a tiny fraction of insight to the time periods

Give me one example of something (intelligence based) a bird can do, that no other animal (besides us) can do. I'm not saying there's not one, but I know of none. I know there are some birds that are smart, but there are a lot animals that are pretty damn smart.

That is true, yeah. But plenty of fossils have been found to give at least an incomplete picture of prehistoric eco systems.
But yeah, especially those periods after mass extinctions are very sparse with fossils, and so we'll probably never know what it was like to live in those times.

Birds have been shown to use tools, develop traditions, solve multiple step puzzles, gossip, form dialects, can memorize faces, and crows are very good at memorizing and changing the migratory pattern. And that new pattern will stay until the group decides it isn't safe enough and make a new one.

Just an interesting fact

Not just primates and dolphins. Google each one and look at the animals that perform each behavior. You might be surprised.
I'm only even asking because he said that he thinks birds would be the next "people" and we just beat them in the race. The argument being that birds were descended from dinosaurs, and dinosaurs would've had the opportunity to become "people" given enough time (or that's what I took from it anyways). It's not really an argument that holds much weight, because countless species are capable of all the same things birds are, even ones we all assume to be "stupid".Quote:
Achillita said: Most behaviors of humans are exhibited in other animals.
I'm not asking what behaviors birds and other animals exhibit that line up to people. I'm asking for an example of something a bird can do that no other animal besides us can.
Birds have no more of a shot of being the next "people" than any other animal.

Im not trying to sound omnipotent here or anything, but human intelligence will by untouched by any species of animal or even alien in this whole solar system.
Why?
Because if you think real hard on it, our thought process is almost godly, we can damn near take advantage of splitting atoms, able to acknowledge and observe dark matter, and come up with thoughts like the string theory or better yet, the internet.
I don't think a dinosaur or dolphin can amount to any of that, but I have heard of a bird pecking a certain vibration to confuse bugs to come out for the bird to eat it, which is very clever.

But thats scientifically impossible, first off aliens are a myth, and even if they were smart enough to contact us, they would get caught instantaneously due to how much surveillance goes on in the world.
So aliens would either be on par with humans, a little ahead, or unsophisticated.

That's one bird, and is debated whether it was of it's own volition or coached. If they were all (or even just more than one) inherently that smart and capable, why hasn't it repeated?

I have had the same thought. They say we actually know only about 10% of the dinosaurs that existed. There are all kinds of things we don't know about those millions of millions of years and ephochs and aeons of time.
There could have been dinosaurs with language and advanced social hunting strategies and dinosaurs as intelligent as a dolphin of primate.
We just know very little.
I highly doubt any survived in caves to the present day though.
And yes the entire world is covered in nuclear glass at a certain level which corresponds to a global cataclysm (one of many) in the ancient past that incinerated the surface of the earth, possible a coronal ejection from the sun or the result of some kind of meteor impact or similar.

I wonder what the world would be like if humans and dinosaurs coexisted?

They went from badass and terrifying to affordable and mildly annoying. I don't see a problem.

Probably the same. If humans and dinosaurs had coexisted, humans would have had to kill them all, just like almost every other dangerous predator. T-rex are just too dangerous to have roaming around. The herbivores would have simply died off as they lost necessary habitat to climate change, or be hunted to extinction just like later megafauna were.

And after a few hundred thousands of years, elephants will be able to fly and read/write books. Evolution theory, you know.

i read somewhere that it takes many fewer generations to evolve to be smaller than it does to be bigger. I don't remember the reasoning behind it.

Well the statement in the op is like "mammals are the smartest animals in the world."
Which is sweeping to say the least.
Considering the variety of the dinosaurs over 10s of millions of years I'd not be surprised if some were as smart as primates. Chimpanzees maybe. I dunno about people. Part of the reason we became so smart is because of our dexterity. The things we are physically capable of requires alot of intelligence.
I can think of no dinosaurs capable of building more than a nest.

I like meant to actually reply to you and didn't.
That may be so, though I've never heard of it, even if not and even if a huge ass meteor didn't hit the earth and oxygen levels still plummeted as they did dinosaurs would not have been able to survive.
It takes alot of oxygen and alot of food to get as big as the dinosaurs did. Without the huge trees to make huge amounts of oxygen they could not survive.
