Tahoe mushrooms found at work!! help I.D. bolete and oyster
    #22450945 - 10/29/15 08:20 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

hey guys, I was working in the Tahoe area today and came across some mushrooms. I was pretty excited because it has been fairly dry.

I found a nice patch of shaggy manes that was fresh.

I also came across what I believe to be oyster mushrooms. I have never wild picked them and have never been shown, so I don't want to eat them without an I.D.
I found them on a dead white pine that has been topped, but is still standing.
The caps are off white and cracked, but it was a dry last couple of days.
The gills seem to run all the way down the stems. I was reading that was a distinguishing feature from some look alikes.
The stems are short and stubby.
the print was white. I couldn't get a good photo on the aluminum foil. so no pic.

I also came across a big patch of boletes. They were growing in rocky soil off the side of a dirt road next to a group of white pine and young ceder trees. they were growing in fairly large groups. one patch had about 10 total grouped together. they were still pretty young. the color on most of them was an off white, starting to get brown/pink tints. A few of the bigger ones were mostly brown.

the caps are about 3-4 inches in diameter on the larger ones. slightly slimy. the skin on the cap peels off easily.
The stems were white in color. slightly larger at the base, and relatively short. 1/2 inch to 1 inch on most of the mushrooms.
The tubes under the cap were white in color on the young mushrooms, turning yellow with age. no bruising.
the spore print in a light brown. its a shitty print because I didn't have any blank white pages, sorry:/

well I would have to say it was a pretty god day at work:) If anyone can help me with the I.d. that would be awesome. I'm new to hunting in the Sierra Nevada's so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
