Orange fluid inside fruit

Title says it all. Please explain. Some of my fruit stems are just very limp and flat and watery. Very different from my previous flush which were super firm. And some are hollow some contain a orange fluid.
Am I just being paranoid.

That sub looks bacterial. The orange fluid is probably metabolites.

Pasty can you tell me how you can look at those pictures and say that the sub looks bacterial? I see a lot of pictures of jars and substrates that I couldn't personally say had anything wrong with it.
Other than experience, how do the pros like you tell if it's bacterial? I looked at this and thought it was maybe vert or something due to the strange look of the fruits, I wouldn't have guessed bacteria, it would be nice to be able to tell in my own grows without having to post about it.

Aside from the over saturation of the fruits and possible pseudomonias attacking the caps, the look of the fuzzy feet are pretty spikey. Lots of times that is a response to bacteria. Also the myc coming uo through the casing has a really bright white look in spots and weak else where. Certainly the excess metabolites are a response to either heat stress or contam. The soaked look at the bases looks slightly greasy which suggests bacillus.
The fruits themselves are not robust, usually a good indicator of contam. Its not one specific symptom but rather the collection of them. I would be on the lookout for mold to appear soon.

As for jars I look for hard edges on colonization, poor delineation of the grains shape, a look like melted ice cream poured in is a warning. Excess condensation, excess metabolites, are also big signs. Finally recovery after a shake is really key. Slow recovery is a big warning sign. Having white growth is not enough.

Wow, thank you for your very thorough explanation. Feels like it kind of boils down to tons of experience and knowing what to look for. I love how much there is to learn about this hobby, I can't imagine I'll come to a point where I sit back sipping a drink saying "I've learned all there is to know about mycology". That's exciting stuff. Sorry about your gnarly mushrooms dude, don't give up hope

I would be pretty sad if I thought I had learned everything there was to know in mycology.

I would've cut off the stumps and kept the upper 85% of the fruits...
Worst case scenario they clear up an ear infection of yours or something..

Out of curiosity, you're saying that the metabolites in cubes could potentially be beneficial to us? I know that Stamets says that because we are most genetically related to the fungal kingdom, certain species have beneficial enzymes and whatnot due to the fact that their biggest enemy is bacteria, just like us, do you propose that cubes could have those same properties?
That would be mega interesting, I wouldn't want to have to eat a bunch of metabolite laden shrooms but it would be a cool thing to study.

I know you won't die because some dude dipped his finger in a pool of it and tasted it recently. It's just antibiotics really.

More experiments should be done with the stuff.
maybe use that to treat cobweb instead of hydrogen peroxide. Or something more useful than that :

Soon meta's from fungi will treat over avian egg incubated inoc's.
Are you allergic to cubes (toast fungi)? Cool.
