Habitat:
Where does it grow? Hard wood

Gills: spongy white

Stem: inch or so

Cap:
Dark/light brown,wavy


Bruising: none

Other information:
Smells delicious.

there are a few features that look just a little bit off (like the thickness of the fronds and the cracked frond edges, for instance, but maybe that is just a normal morphological difference?).  but in general, yes, looks like it.  are all three of those pieces from the same specimen?

they're delicious, BTW.  what does yours smell like?  found one about six weeks ago that had the most beautiful almondy scent whereas the other four specimens we found that day did not...sadly, the scent disappeared within about four hours of harvest and there was no noticeable difference in taste.

They had a richer sweeter smell then agaricus that you can find at the grocery store. There were three of them but I only grab two. The one broke in half when trying to pick it off,pain in the but. The one in the middle is the hole one.

i do find that maitake has a pretty sweet scent in general...varying themes of a sweet, fungal, sometimes nutty or fruity scent.
