Tweakz's Noob Tek (a foolproof tek for beginners)

So finally after like 5 different attempts of cultivation i have discovered a method that CAN NOT FAIL. This tek is designed to help all those newbies out there who encounter problems during cultivation (contam) or have had trouble with other teks.
This tek yielded 6 perfectly colonized jars that have just started pinning and started with only 1 jar that was contaminated and about to be thrown out. Basically this tek teaches you how to isolate healthy, workable mycelium from almost any kind of conditions and use it to create a live mycelium culture on agar that can be used to create more cultivation jars.
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
-Vermiculite/Brown rice flour (or grains) -6 Jars (mason or canning) -Pressure Cooker (or alternative means of sterilization) -Agar/Petri dishes (plates, some people just use glass cups though) -Spores (it is possible to do this tek using a piece of actual mushroom)
This tek is also not a standard step by step tutorial but more of a guide to understanding the organism that is mycelium and how it can be handled.
THE PROCESS:
-Prepare 3 agar plates.
-Create any viable substrate (grains/pf tek/straw etc.) jar or agar, then inoculate and try to get mycelium to germinate and start growing.
-Locate healthy mycelium. If your jar is absolutely contaminated to hell with 50 kinds of contams but you still have a small spot of mushroom mycelium, it is still usable.
-Once you have located mycelium, grab a knife or scalpel (keep all tools sterilized, use flame or disinfectant spray) and cut off a piece of the mycelium, try to get only mycelium and nothing else and then place the piece onto one of your agar plates.
-After a few days your piece of mycelium should have grown on the surface of your agar and created a circle around the mycelium piece you placed there. Take a scalpel and cut the cleanest part of that mycelium and place it on the next clean agar plate. Repeat this until you have a plate with only mycelium and no contams.
-Once you have an agar plate that has colonized at least 50%, Create 6 PF tek jars. The only change i make with the pf tek jars is while i am filling the jars with the brf/verm mixture, i make a sort of tunnel/hole in the middle of the "cake" so that your agar can fall into there and colonize from the center.
-When the jars have cooled down, take your agar plate with pure mycelium and cut it up into 6 even pieces, then take each piece and drop it into the pf jar 'tunnel' and leave the jars to colonize for a few weeks.
-How you fruit it is up to you, i decided to fruit them inside the jars, this will give you a smaller yield but for much less effort.
Here's an example of this method being used:
-Have a mushroom or spore print and want to cultivate it.
-Create pf tek jar, drop pices of the spores/shroom in there (dried or fresh).
-A few days later notice jar is full of contams and a few areas of mycelium.
-Extract piece of clean mycelium and drop it onto clean agar plate.
-A few days later isolate clean mycelium from agar plate and drop onto another clean plate.
-A few days after that create 6 pf tek jars, slice the mycelium into 6 pieces and drop a piece into each jar.
-Wait a few weeks to colonize and then fruit them.
If you follow this method i strongly believe it is impossible to fail. The only thing that can ruin this tek is if you have dead spores that can't germinate, but if that is the case, no tek will work.
Happy Shrooming.

A foolproof tek for beginners that uses agar and doesn't mention a still air box... Or flaming the tools for agar work. Or how to do any of the steps involved.
Just because you couldn't get standard PF or V-tek to work doesn't make this better. Agar to grains is nothing new, and single point inoculated PF cake is going to be slow no matter what. A typical cake goes from inoculation to colonization in 3-4 weeks without a few weeks of dicking around with agar. Yes, if you have dirty spores, agar is the way to go. Most people start using vendor syringes which will be clean enough, or should be if they research their vendors.
Dropping an agar wedge into a depression in a cake might be a decent way to make cakes for slurry or test cultures on cakes. I have a feeling they would be prone to stalling.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

i did not use a still air box at any point in the process, i feel it's not as necessary as people say. i've encountered zero contams with all 6 jars.
i will edit that tools should be sterilized but i assumed that was common knowledge these days.

Don't take this as me trying to be negative towards your work, new tek is always interesting, but agar is a few steps above newb. With some refinement you have a great intermediate tek going on. Beginner tek has to be K.I.S.S. (keep it stupid simple) to the core, and right now PF tek mixed with a fat dose of cleanliness fits the bill perfectly for any one wanting to get in the game.

a SAB is not an option its 100% nesacary. you cant do agar without a SAB or a FH and expect a clean culture hence why 1 of your AGAR inoculated cakes failed really tho from reading this I take it that its your first grow or at least first successful grow and you feel comfortable writing a tek that contradicts most facts in mycology it just doesn't make sense to me bro cause WITHOUT STERILE PROCEDURE YOU WILL FAIL AND KEEP FAILING. 1 question tho why would you waste pf mix to germinate spores on when you have agar already? that shit makes no sense really this whole thing is pretty fucked no offense but take this back to the drawing board
Where's the pics from this tek?

I do open air innocolations all the time. Sterile does help the process tho. OP, You found a way that works for you and that's awesome, keep it up bud and expand on you're tek!

This tek's purpose was mainly to share an alternative method to people having trouble cultivating, not trying to reinvent the wheel here guys =P

actually my agar never contamed, even though i got the mycelium from a contaminated jar. I was just saying if it contams you have other plates to isolate to.
