Put a dry piece of mushroom on agar and hope it grows...transfer that until you get a clean culture.

re-hydrate with a quick soak and then proceed with normal cloning procedure from what I understand. aka take inner stem tissue and put it on agar or something else nutritious

it doesnt' have to be, i would try tossing it some sterilized water first not only to rehydrate but to rinse off/water down contams but even most traditional methods dont' take much transfers

Finally, DEALER GRADE. My life is complete.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

weird to me that everybody seems to use slants when sterile water cultures store longer. (right?)
Never even so much as seen a tek for long term sterile water storage.

Slants can store for years, which is long enough for most of us
Slants are so easy to work with you just pull a piece and inoculate a plate

I removed the section of what I did because it was verbose But I can give you a rundown of what we've done so far. Basically you just want to start growing whatever comes out of your mushroom caps/the pieces of flesh that also fall in, and do your best to isolate the mycelium from the contams to start jars. For us, we didn't have to isolate. It just worked
I removed the caps from some dried mushies, placed them gills-down on some wax paper and covered them with glasses and left them over night. The next morning I flicked the bottom of the wax paper under the glasses to agitate any more spores that could be in there. I ended up with a lightly dusty but largely particulate powder of probably mostly mushroom flesh.
I boiled some water for 20 minutes, and as it was cooling, added some honey and put it into a CLEAN (not sterile) jar. When cool, I dumped the powder into the container and within 3 days, there was a fluffy culture gathered at the bottom of the jar. From this point a still air box was used.
I used this to inoculate agar via syringe , which after 2 weeks (we did not check until 2 weeks later), only 2 of 12 muffin tray slots had shown any activity of colonization. The rest were blank, or moldy. The two that did colonize were EXTREMELY colonized. We moved those to jars of 3/4C sawdust 1/4C oat bran, soaked/sterilized regularly.
The rest is in the thread linked at the top. No issues yet, despite the many breeches in sterile technique.

with slants you have to wait for your wedge to grow out, with water you could just fill up a 60 Ml syringe right off the bat and innoc to your hearts content.
Just a thought
