What is up with these jars.... more time or toss them?

I definitely overcooked my oats this last run. For some reason i had it in my head that I needed to boil them for 90 minutes when the last 2 runs I only went 45 minutes. With that being said, I used them any way. 6 jars agar wedge Argentina transfers, 4 jars remaining Argentina MS on 10/13/15 (15 days ago).
8 of those 10 Argentina jars are ready to spawn. I am confident the other 2 are only like a day off. Issue is I don't have a day off from work until Sunday. Should I throw them in the fridge?
Now my problem jars. B+ MS to the same batch of overcooked oats on the same day. 2 out of 10 are ready to go. The rest look like this.No signs of contaminants....although I did have some people tell me days back that my jars had cobweb mob, which I knew I didn't and still don't.

I have read how B+ is slower than other strains. I am not worried about how long it will take to fully colonize, but isn't it weird that the mycelium looks like it is avoiding areas?

Top one might have some mold, bottom one just looks slow. Would still spawn the bottom one if it finished, would be careful about the top one.

Hmmm if it finishes should I take it outside and open it or just toss it?
And just so I understand why and can hopefully determine these things better for myself in the future, is it because of the moisture content in it?

Not sure what you're asking, why what? Why toss the top one but not the bottom one? That gray fuzzy shit doesn't look good, and the other one, I don't see anything particularly bad.
I'd just dump it outside or something, I dunno what it is but it hasn't sporulated yet so take your chance while you can.

id shake, if it recovers in a day or two it shouldnt take long from that. I get jars done from g2g in bout 9-12 days. Shake at 25% colonization than again at 85% nd wala done... aslong as yours recover i wouldnt worry. Otherwise id just toss em nd start over, you could always try nd fruit them if you got the time nd they ever finish, why not what do you got to lose?

Thanks- bookmarked it.
I was just trying to get clarity as to why you thought the top one had mold. The fuzzy stuff. Got it.
As far as what I have to lose, I don't want to introduce contaminants to my environment knowingly.

I know I might catch some flack for this but excessively boiling oats is unnecessary. Just add cup for cup of oats to water. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and put lid on pot. Let sit for 20-25 minutes, then strain. Your oats will come out perfect everytime.

What if I need a whole lot more oats that 1 cup? My last run was 20 quart jars of oats.
Also, should I put my 8 jars that are ready to go in the fridge until Sunday or just let them be?

Hahaha. You misunderstood. The ratio of oats to water is 1:1 is all I meant. So if your cooking 20 qts of oats, you would use 20 quarts of water also.

If you plan on spawning them in a week or two, you can leave them at room temperature.

Hahaha thanks. I wasn't sure if you were imply that I only boil a cup at a time. Once again my tired eyes are skipping words as I read. I'll give this a try next time. I have oats coming out of my ears right now.... It's not like I'll be wasting them.

No problem. I probably could have worded it better also, so I'll take partial blame for that. Yeah. Oats are cheap and come in big bags and it's why they've taken this hobby by storm. But once you really get going, you'll be going through them rather quickly. I know oats have a thick hull and can withstand a good amount of punishment but that still doesn't explain why so many cultivators boil them for 20+ minutes when there is no reason to do so.The only grain that I've ever had to boil longer than 20 minutes was popcorn.

I did the reverse with my WBS. I soaked it overnight and didn't boil it at all. It turned out fine. So long as the moisture content is appropriate, multiple methods likely work.

Yes. Soaking is the best way to hydrate grain but it's the longest process. Multiple methods do work for the same application but why do more than you need to, to get the same job done?

Soaking is technically easier since it requires less of your actual time. You have to sort of stir them every now and then and keep an eye on them while boiling, so it's 10-20 minutes of standing around vs like 2 minutes to put them in a pot and fill it with water and walk away.
I am a super lazy bastard though.

I think we all start off by doing things the much harder way and overtime we find ourselves searching for much lazier ways to get the same job done. Nature of the game, I suppose.

Well, exactly. I wanna do a better job with less effort every time. You bet that's the name of the game.
Those extra 5-15 minutes doing a thing add up on your 200th iteration. Could've written a book or something.
