Does anyone know why they put chips in our CC's and sell the information?

Seems like it might be some kind of mirage trick to get us to think about spending more.

Too bad all the privacy nuts have so much sway. I would love it if all the ads I saw online were based on my previous online purchases. Sadly this only gives advertisers ZIP code data so they can target the ghetto people with basketball shoes or the rich people with golf clubs etc. It doesn't target you specifically which is lame. Pretty sure I have nothing in common with the people in my area or their buying habits.

Why would you want to see ads at all? If I need something, I go looking for it. I go out of my way to block all ads (except here, because I actually care about this site).
Every time I hear someone bitch about Youtube ads:

People trip about the elites forcing RFID chips under the skin. They don't need to..... They are now on credit cards and drivers licenses in some states. People always carry those two things with them, so in a sense people are already chipped.

I routinely leave both at home. Granted if I'm going to be out for an extended period of time I take both, but if I don't need to buy something and am only going to be gone for like 20 or 30 minutes, I'll just leave it.
Some people have a right to trip about being tagged physically in their body. If you have to go somewhere you don't want known you visited, you can leave the CC and ID at home. You can't just leave that little tracker embedded in your flesh at home.

The cell phones take care of a lot of that shit nowadays... But i'm not interested in the world where the shit reads your eyes and extremely specific detials about ones self or purchasing habbits are blasted right back to your face.
Talk about an ego stroke and taking people deeper into their own life and how important and special they are for having ability to buy... Shit's weird man.
It can lead to more isolation.. instead of seeing the world through a different perspective, your own wills, wants and needs are quickly given to you as your 'normal' appeasement. .. feeding your sense of self as legit (for sales) which can help create distance from others paths and a true sense of self...
Not cool.
Why? Drive you to want things you dont need and buy things you cant afford to keep up with a perception of what's 'normal' created by ads in the first place. Vicious cycle. Accpetance is the answer........

The reason is because I don't feel feel like i am entitled to all free shit. Sites use ads because nothing is free. If you don't care about a site, don't use it. I bet you put up with all sorts of ads on torrent sites and download sites.

actually most banks have the foil lined sleeves available to keep the RFID credit cards in now to protect your info, just ask them. Many people use the sleeves, most don't though.

I'm pretty sure you can't grab information from those without physical contact. (IE inserting it into the bottom of a card reader) They use the same or similar technology in the military for CAC cards.

After doing a little reading, I stand corrected about shielding CAC cards (see) but that's only there because they have an RFID chip inside of them and not because of the chip. Credit cards don't have RFID chips though.

Seems like they've been in Canada forever, and I got my standard issue of one awhile ago. They're nice, the chip lasts way longer than the strip on my decrepit old cards When they came out here they said they were an improvement to help stop credit card fraud. I tent to believe its true!

I've been making my own wallets for years now http://www.instructables.com/id/Paper-Wallet/ my current one is from the dust jacket of a book about the elements, on the inside side of the paper i have been putting a sheet of aluminum foil for the past 2-3 years.
I've made a few wallets from tin foil completely, crinkle it up then flatten it back out, make the few cuts you need to, laminate/contact paper it, then fold it up and tape it together.

id assume that credit cards have chips in them for security reasons. there is a lot of fraud when it comes to credit cards. as to people getting some sort of chip embedded in their person, that would probably be right before or after world war three and/or the nuclear holocaust.
