A friend sent me these pictures so I can't upload more and don't have much information. Sorry about that!

Hard to answer.... Psilocybe (magic) or not Pretty hard to ID with those pics Be better to see stem and gills... Gills dark? Spore print?
Cyans blue just looking at them... Not sure I see any blue there

I don't think the bruised blue, but the spore print looked purplish. Doesn't matter to me if they're active or not, I just want to know because they look similar to cyans kind of. Want to know an identifier that removes doubt!

I know they're not cyans. I mean like, what specifically separates THESE from cyans. I can ID cyans if they're apart from others. But some of the younger ones of these in a big cluster of cyans might blend in.
These don't have a chalk white stem that cyans do. Still no clue what they are though!

Possible p. stuntzii I suppose but need to see gills, stem and spore print Any rings on the stems?
Possible also agrocybe, which are pretty common this time of year

They kind of look like Agrocybe. Got any up-skirt shots?

No more pictures that I know of. I was initially thinking stuntzii as well, but I'm a bad identifier. I'll see if my friend can make it back to this spot for more pictures.

1) cyans always have a white stem, never some brownis-orange 2) cyans caps are more of an orange brown 3) cyans are wavy capped 4) they always kinda look 'wet' compared to other mushrooms in the area 5) cyans always bruise blue
just find like 100 pictures of cyans and stare at them; once you see them in the wild you will recognize them instantly. They stand out pretty starkly from all other mushrooms in PNW just from the orange/brown color

To be fair...those are some serious cyan lookalikes. For a newcomer that would be confusing I imagine.

I keep seeing these this year. Closest lookalike I've ever ran across.

Can also just go to PNW actives thread with images only. All sorts of habitat spots and other valuable information in those pics that has helped me a lot.

I know these aren't cyans. I don't know what they are though. I want an ID on these. Could they be a type of honey mushroom?

I'm fairly confident that they are Agrocybe.

Thanks, MJK. What makes you so sure of that and not stuntzii? After my research, it seems stuntzii have a veil remnant and my picture has nothing at all.

Because (at least to me) they have no features of P. stuntzii. Stuntzii do not have whitish stem or gills, also stuntzii normally have an annulus and these do not. If anything they would look like cyanescens if they looked like a Psilocybe but they are no Psilocybe.

I'm looking at pictures of stuntzii and there's a mix between whiter stems and darker ones. I guess stuntzii should have darker stems in comparison. And yes, the missing annulus definitely is a telltale sign for me. Thanks.
