A friend and I went on a hunt today, and came across these on a large pile of bark/mulch. They suggested they may be Gymnopilus luteofolius. I can see the similarities, but would appreciate some experienced options.
Habitat: Woods, on top of large bark pile.
Gills: yellow, light "mustard", light amber
Stem: hollow, thick
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: rusty brown

I don't see any blue specs, so I'd guess g.thersii
Found a few I thought were luteofolis but they make a much pointier pin and have that orange rim and no blue spots. They also dry kinda dark brown. The luteofolius dry nice light brown.
Alan would prolly know he's pretty good at Notting the dig it seems.

Rusty/Brown spores?

Sorry auto correct (noting the diff), is what I meant to write.
Alan sees something I can't often in the purple gyms. Most people assume purple gym = luteofolius but your specimens imo look like the ones Alan has id as thersii
The main thing I think he sees is a lack of any blue spots. And yours do not exhibit any bruises I can see.
They look nearly identical but one is active one is mildly toxic to some people with allergies.

Heres a few pics I think show the difference from samples I've collected. The bruises are the biggest tell imo
