Thawed mushroom tea
    #22444987 - 10/28/15 01:51 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

I wonder if anyone has had dealings with this phenomenon: The seaweed-like scum that seems to form when a jar of cubensis tea is taken from the freezer and fully thawed.

I wish I had a photo of this formation. I will upload one tonight. For now I will only say that this scum, when strained out, leaves the tea completely clear--a kind of light gold color.

I have two 8 oz jars of this strained tea. I have refrozen them because I have no desire to trip right now, but when I do, I will report on the effects of drinking this stuff. I am hoping that by straining out this gunk, I will have also gotten rid of that element that makes for body load sense and maybe even the mid trip angst that often burdens my trips.

Anyway, please, anyone who has dealt with frozen tea, let me know of your experiences.

I just shake it up.  It might be inactive but I've never tested it.  Pretty sure it won't affect the effect of the actives, which is where your body load and angst originate.

It's just spores and bits that were small enough to get through the strainer (you did strain it, right??).  When the tea freezes the water freezes first which concentrates the gunk.

Yes, I strained it. I make tea pretty much according to the technique I found in one of your posts. I always use fresh fruits. This method is very good for nausea avoidance.

I am aware that psilocybin, even in its pure form can be problematic--especially with higher doses. LSD likewise. Tryptamines don't offer free lunches.

But, I think, the cleaner the brew, the better for you.

I think you tagged it here. When I can, I will upload a few pics.

Well - the gunk might be active.  But to find out you'd really have to separate it out and then try only that.  Which I'm not gonna do.  So I just leave it in, 'cause there isn't all that much there.  But I notice if the fruits sporulated heavily there's more gunk in the tea.
