yeah dude, nick drake is the man. i've got a lot of his cds, Pink Moon is the best in my opinion. it's sad that he died at such a young age.. if i remember right he was only like 30.

Read Ian MacDonald's latest (and sadly last) book, the People's Music. A fascinating insight into Drake and his music, and why it affects us so much.

I agree, Pink Moon is superb.

Yeah, that whole album is amazing... I remember reading he had a phobia of performing-maybe because he would've had to retune his whole guitar in between songs, just about every one has some funky tuning.... But then again I think he had some serious psychological issues.

It's funny that I found out about him thru the VW commercial that Pink Moon was in. Same with The Orb and Fluffy Little Clouds.

ahh I'm gonna go listen to that album

I've read somewhere that you could crank a Nick Drake song up to 10+ volume...and it would still sound like he's whispering.

HAHAHA

yeah, it sounds like when he did the vocal tracks they were mixed on a higher volume so that he could whisper the vocals. eliott smith does the same thing. poor eliott.

do any of you know what tunings he used? i'd like to try them out sometime, i do a lot of fingerpicking.
