So,using some stem butts, colonized chips, and some carefully collected ryzomorphic mycelium I have several quarts of spawn material and two lcs to work with over winter.I'm very curious about cold incubation ala stamets and the whole non sterile environment.has anyone here done much cold incubation?I'm talking temps35 to 40.I'm planning several scenarios.spawn, chips stump grindings, and cardboard layered in 5 gallon bucket, spawn and cardboard in growing bags, and cardboard rolls.several other ideas as well.I can incubate in crawlspace where temps are pretty steady, attic where there's fluctuation,or in a buried55 gallon drum in cold greenhouse.just looking for any input or any experience with the things I've mentioned.thanks

for colonizing they don'gt need to be cold, they do better at room temp.

I've read posts saying the green nasties can become a problem at room temps.I'm not sterile.

Tis truly the year for wood lovers in Michgan.I picked six yesterday and see several pins.we've had some upper20's but mostly mid thirties to forties.the mycelium has spread at least a foot in every direction from bed.lots of rain.I'm simply amazed at the aggressive nature of cyans.I've started several spawn generating projects none of Wich involved sterilization or even pasteurization.they are all growing rampantly.I think I'm in love
