Take out that tape, the cakes need to breath, your verm barrier is acting like a filter... contams won't enter unless you disturbe the verm barrier.

You can use micro-pore tape but it's not necessary if you have the dry verm.

Alright sounds good.

And once they all are completely white should I still wait an extra week?
Or should I move on to the next stage as soon as possible? (especially because of the pin)

I would still wait a week because that pin ain't shit you will get more mushrooms in total if you consolidate them. I bet those jars take off within the next 24 hours they're like I can breaaatthhheee!!

Or you can birth the one that has pins at 100% and consolidate the ones that don't. Usually if it's pinning and at 100% it's safe to birth.

Thanks.  I am going to wait probably for all 4 at one time unless the pinning starts to get ridiculous or something.  Quick question about the chamber.  How close should my light be from the cakes (using a normal desk lamp w/ 6500K light bulb).

I also had major trouble during inoculation due to the syringe getting clogged. I've had growth on 6/10 jars but very small on the 2 not in the pics.

During inoculation I accidentally released 1cc into a single inoc point due to a clogged syringe.  And then had to divide up giving .5cc to the last couple jars.  Do you guys have any tips for the next time i inoculate?

I used a normal 10cc spore syringe with a makeshift glove box.

If you stick with brf jars try an lc. You can expand a few spores to inoculate an ass tone of jars instead of using a whole syringe.

Better yet, move on to agar and grains. It seems daunting at first but its easy peasy.

I've done it using steam in a covered pot. The only problem is that it's hard to spot contams in an lc so its kind of a crap shoot sometimes.

Shit I grew pounds of mushrooms from a single LC made with a salsa jar and a pot. Wouldn't recommend it though maybe I just got lucky.

Close as you can without heating up the chamber.

Forgot to mention that the duct tape was there to act as an extra condensation barrier during sterilization.  I did not want any H20 entering the inoc holes.  Is this needed and then just remove tape afterwards or skip all together?

This hobby can be frustrating with very long wait times without a pressure cooker.  Get a cheap used one somewhere. Once you get a clean (agar>LC) LC everything happens a lot easier and faster.  Inoculation with spores can and does work for many people, but it is very slow and the slower the colonization the more problems that can occur.

Wow, what?! Wouldn't steam sterilisation be fine?

That's what the foil is for. If you're that paranoid you can put micropore tape over the holes + foil during steaming and then just inject right through the tape and leave the foil off.

Yes but LC is barely worth trying even with a PC. When you get a good LC it can rock, but they are risky, especially for noobs.
