    #22443049 - 10/28/15 01:47 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

So i was looking around a bit and came across what i believe to be my first ever active gymn find. i am not totally sure but i think i seen some bluing on the cap, and they have that kind of look to them.

Found in Washington state

I am also wondering how long they may take to mature from their current state of growth.

very excited to possibly find my first gymn

the larger cap towards the bottom is the one i seen the bluing spot on the cap

and a lame out of focus shot lol

I'm not sure, some sort of downed log possibly a cut down hardwood. Looks more like deciduous wood then pine but I'm not really sure.

They were still young specimens so hopefully I can go back and get some more pics. But I agree it does look right to me. I hope someone who really knows gymns can validate

There were quite a few clumps of pins growing from these logs, would they be worth harvesting once they mature?

If that isn't the most practical thing I would like to leave them in nature, I just have no experience with them yet lol

You got them, but we don't call the west coast conifer collections Gymnopilus luteofolius anymore because the type location is New York, and it was collected on birch.
