Ethyl Alcohol as sterile as Lysol?

I'm doing a little project with my SAB involving a hand-sensor spray and was wondering if 90% anhydrous ethyl alcohol is as if not more sterile than using Lysol in a SAB?
Appreciate any input

no need for either, neither sterilize they sanitize, neither of whichi is really neeedd you just want the air still, soap and water will do the trick the idea is to get it wet so contams will stick and get it still

Yep, neither are sterile, the use of aerosols close to the time of inoculation is also bad because it stirs up air. Since it's not sterile and it's moving air, contams are just riding on into your work.

Et-OH is what is in Lysol , I believe. It is fine as an antiseptic at concentrations of 50-80% and is generally sold at 70% (and also 91% but this might be for other uses such as cleaning and drying). Pure ethyl alcohol (Et-OH) is *not* good as an antiseptic since it will often temporarily "knock cells out" into a dormant state "sealing" them, only to be resurrected again later on. At roughly 70% it denatures proteins, dissolves the cell walls of bacteria and kill them. It is not effective at killing the endospores. I'm not sure if it does the same thing to fungi; it has been shown effective in killing it but there was no mention if this is hyphae or spores, or both.
The effectiveness of Et-OH is also synergistic with heat.

Cron so it's as simple as wiping down my SAB with warm water and dawn? So ethyl alcohol wouldn't be as antiseptic. I'm sorry it's a little hard following your post but I think what your saying is at around 70% it would break down endospores but there isn't enough evidence? What about steam under high pressure?

It's that being antiseptic isn't what helps the SAB work.

There you go, this will be your research basically.
Soapy water = Sticky surfaces in the SAB = Contams attached to walls and surfaces = better still air.
