Best Fruiting Tank For New Growers
    #22441717 - 10/27/15 07:30 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hello shroomery ive been a long time lurker but have not felt I could contribute to this site so never bothered making an account. Anyways I decided to make an acount because I have a few spore syringes arriving in the mail soon. Now ive been reading and checking forums and have been interested in monotubs they seem like a low maintenance way to get many fruits. However im not sure if PF would be better so I was wondering what you guys thought. Should I try a PF grow or a monotub grow? Im new to growing anything but I will try as hard as I can to listen and do what I must to get a good grow going. Thanks for any help

Ohh thank you man. Im setting up a still air box with rubber gloves and have a dab torch that may be hot enough to heat the syringe tip. Should I inject agar with my spores in the still air box then colonize from there, or is that not necessary? Im not trying to make the perfect mushroom I just want a good supply for myself. But I thought I saw someone say that the mono needed a piece of agar and not a straight multi spore injection to colonize properly. I may just be confused but it would make since because my glove box would not fit a whole fruiting chamber. Sorry if my questions are dumb I just still don't know how everything works.

Here's a good place to start if you're looking at monotubs

I have a PC and the agar is in the mail. I already bought 70% iso alcohol, the still air box with rubber gloves sealed onto it (100% airtight when sealed), and I have a large amount of jars to put my substrate in. I still needed to figure out if I was doing PF tek or if I was doing a monotub so I did not build the fruiting chamber or pick up the substrate. However my inoculation setup is on point, I doubt I will have any problems with contaminants. But if im doing a monotub then I guess I should go get the stuff all setup for when the spores get here. I just hope this all works out.

Thanks man that looks like it would be best. How much light do you need for a mono tub? Would it be ok to just place the tub near a window and let it do its thing? Or should I set up a lamp to get it the right amount of light? Also what is the best level of heat they need to fruit. I am getting some jeepers kreepers so im not sure if they need more or less heat for optimal growth.

You're gonna need to do a lot of reading if you are asking what light it needs...yes a window will work but you want a light with a Kelvin rating of 6500...and rip those gloves off that box...a Still Air Box is the way to go.

I'm not trolling I do have the best method it's easy and actually adorable. I'm saying he doesn't know I'm not the official best grower but I am and he is unrated so I get my moment of shroomery fame.
